Post times you should have died ...but didn't.

Worst for me was a couple years ago when I was driving my Tacoma home in the snow. I was driving up the on ramp to the freeway which was clear of snow. Hit the freeway and it was like driving on ice. Rear end slid out and shot me sideways across 2 lanes and right in front of a semi truck. I'd never looked at the front of big rig from that angle before. Rear came back around and I shot off the freeway into the snow and slid sideways till I stopped about 2 feet from the concrete wall.

I drove home pretty slow after that.

Oh, and maybe the roller I hit at 70mph on the Dubinki Well road. Aired the XJ out and felt it turn a bit sideways in the air.......Cody in the back too. :greg:

There's been many times I've been close to at least major pain, but the one that sticks with me most is hanging by 3 finger tips on a cliff face 30ish feet off the ground after both my foot holds gave. I was out in the Simpson Springs area a few miles from the truck which was on the other side of a ridge that was covered in chest deep snow.

Drove my 90 Corrado to the wyoming border in 30 mins from 72nd onramp of I-15. Average speed was 112 with 2 passengers. Doing 90+ in the turns past kimball junction that had 45mph signs. Got a serious case of pucker factor when I heard my new Z rated tires squeal.

I was born dead. 7.5 minutes to revive.
I've been told of an incident following a severe head injury in my youth where I probably did die again.
I ate too much of an illicit substance once. I think I probably died a little bit then.
Took too much of another illicit substance once... pretty sure I died a little bit on that one.
There was a bullet that didn't fire the first time, but did a week later at the range and after I had sobered up. (I'm WAY past that period in my life now... I was a dipshat kid who thought the world owed me something, and I decided to try to leave it all behind)
I got shot at in the moutains once, I think they were pretty close too. I heard the wizz before I heard the shots.
I stood my 89 K5 on its front tires once, on a public street after breaking a rear driveline. It felt like I was almost tipping over to the front, but I was probably only a few inches off the ground in the rear. The scary part was trying to maintain control when the back end came down a little crooked. There was a dropoff involved.
Then I almost got run over when I tried to retrive what was left of the rear driveline.
I almost tipped the same K5 over backward on a steep hillclimb, and a throttle incident. My brother was spotting me, and I think he pood a little.
Some near miss accidents, random luck, and other times I probably should have died.

I think I'm just too stubborn to die.

I'm not sure how I lived through this one.
75mph car flipped and rolled a few times.

Too many times, stories too long. One had to do with a Cadilac sliding sideways at 110 mph past a motor home that had just pulled out in front of us and looking up to read the Kenworth logo on the oncoming truck. Just stuff like that.

a bunch of us were skipping school and drinking. the guy driving had drank way to much. he overcorrected and tried to jump a canal at about 80mph. I was wearing my seat belt as a joke. the rest were not.

Just before i left for AK last spring, i was cruisin down I-215 in the far inside lane. At about the exit for the canyons, i noticed a car pulling off the road down a ways on the shoulder. I didn't think much of it, just noticed it and logged it in the brain as a car on the side of the road like any good driver would i guess... As i continued down the highway(keep in mind this whole event will take less than 1 minute) i noticed the car start to merge again.. then i notice it's going dangerously slow to merge on a highway.. the car starts into the 2nd lane, slowly picking up speed(10-15mph i'd guess) and misses a car traveling at 60mph+ by inches.. the car continues into the 3rd lane, where a car flies by in the 2nd lane, missing it by inches again.. this is all happening so fast that at about this moment i realize that this car is on a perfect trajectory(sp?) and speed, combined with my speed, to make one hell of a deadly mess any second.. i stomp on the brakes.. i fully attribute the 4runner stopping the 37's to the tacoma brake booster i'd installed just weeks before.. i locked em up just in time, that the car flew in front of my rig, so close that most of it disapeared under my hood from view.. only to pop back into view and slam into the median at about a 45* angle.. the car was nearly on it's side grinding against the median as i came to a stop.. the car dropped down and came to a rest.. i pulled up in front of the car, made sure the highway was clear, ran to the car to find out it was a pregnant lady:eek: she said she had had a dizzly spell, and pulled over, passed out.. and she woke up right before she hit the wall.

that was the scariest event of my life so far.. i locked up the brakes at 70mph+ and broke a front spring in the process. the UHP showed up, and some firetrucks, and i left at that point. but there was another passerby on her way to work(LDS Hospital i think it was) so she helped the prego lady, being a nurse and all.

don't even get me started on the samurai stories:D
