Power steering overflow tank

So I have a psc reservoir that over flows out the top when the fluid gets heated or has air in it (as is my case right now). My questions is whether or not a plastic coolant overflow would hold up to the temperature of the heated fluid. I have no idea how hot its gets and its has a cooler on it plus a filter that adds at least a quart of more fluid. I don't want to put it on only for it to melt.

Is this full hydro or assist? I have no problems with my full hydro turning 39's all day long in 90 degree heat. I run the standard psc aluminum res. with a 12 by 8 cooler in front of the radiator. I would say you have an underlying issue or need better cooling capacity

I am not saying its overheating and its just a hydro assist. I have yet to take it out of the driveway. I just figured I needed something for the vent line if the fluid heats up and don't want to buy psc's catch can. I could plug off the tube and run less fluid. Kiel what have you done with your psc vent line?

Nothing I just let it vent out the cap. How full is your res? Does it have the baffle inside with the holes? Your suppose to fill it up maybe half way, def below the baffle. If I was going to do anything, I would just run a vent tube up the firewall or cage like my fuel cell with maybe a roll valve

I have a complete PSC hydro assist setup with the addition of a nice plate type cooler on the return line and have never had any fluid overflow the tank. I would look for the cause of your problem. If you are making that much heat you need a bigger cooler.

Huh, I have a problem with my whole system getting air in it. I have it filled up almost full. Maybe I will have to fill it down below the baffle which would only put the reservoir half full. So whats the reasoning behind having it filled below the baffle if I might ask?

I have hydro assist on my Samurai with a PSC pump and reservoir, and it would occasionally puke fluid out the reservoir. I ran a tube from the reservoir cap into the bottom of a plastic radiator overflow bottle, filled halfway with fluid, and it has worked great. The fluid does not get anywhere near hot enough to melt the bottle, and I have never had a single problem with it. I also fill my reservoir just up to the baffle, and have never had a problem with getting air in the system.
