I'm not building buildings though.. Odd jobs around the house, a few automotive jobs, building a new deck and finishing the basement next summer.. Small stuff. Does Ryobi Lithium have your blessing?

I'd be happy w/Ryobi around the house... but for battery life, I'd have a real hard time not getting the Makitas. :D It would probably come down to price in that battle. ;) Proceed accordingly.

Price battle was fought, Ryobi is the winner..

Ok, just got back from Lowes and Home Depot. I passed on the Porter Cable offering at Lowe's and went for Ryobi 18v lithium 4 piece set at HD. My wife was slighty annoying on why I had to have the lithium.. That was a draining 2hr conversation. We get to HD and the only set they have had signs of being opened. My wife has a thing about that, so she made some remarks about not buying one there. The manager was helping us at that point and offered 10% off since the box had been opened. He then offered to let us inspect the kit before purchasing it. The drill showed a few scratches but other than that all looked new. He noted the scratches on the drill and sent us to the counter. He gave us a big discount on the kit. Retail price is $259, we paid $185 including a 2yr extended warranty through HD after the 2yr manufacturers warranty is up.

I'm happy with that. Saved some money, and got an extended warranty for way less than retail.

I have two 1/2" cordless impacts both are from Snap On. Then I have a little 3/8" cordless that I think is from Makita. The Snap On impacts get used and abused quite often for wheels and tires. I think they have a 650 ft. lbs. for install and a bit more for removal. The little Mikita gets used often for just about every hose clamp, diff cover, interior pieces, and even some other hard engine pieces. I don't remember the ft. lbs of it but, it does the jobs fine and it still amazes me from time to time.

I love my Milwaukee stuff. But I'm used to having Chicago Electric so Milwaukee is a huge step up for me :)

No complaints with the lithium Ryobi kit so far, an it's seen some decent use with finishing our basement and random dance studio projects. I would love an impact driver though.
