Pricing Radiators

I've been researching a good radiator for my CJ with a LT1 and need to know what you guys are running ? I was leaning toward a BE Cool until I found out that the radiator and dual fans were a grand ($1000.00). Is Be Cool that much better if at all? I'm going to run dual fans and need a good radiator. Any recomendations would be appreciated.
Thanks

JMac Carries the conversion radiators as well. They are cheaper than Mepco sales them and i think they are the same brand. I used one from JMac and so far so good.

I got a generic chevy aluminum from Summit for just under 200.00. I ended up paying someone to weld some plates on the side to bolt onto the CJ. I just measured the space and actually got one a couple inches wider than the stock CJ one. I have the tbi 350, and have the ac condeser, and tranny cooler in front. The engine never gets hot.

I thought I saw the speedway ones are cheaper.

yeah, you likely got the griffin or Howe, both are around $189-$199 depending on where you get them from. The speedway for the same size Griffin or Howe is $139...here is a link to the Speedway ones...

Is JMac on state and about 3500 S? If they are, they are the ones who welded my supports on my alum rad. They charged me $60. I was quite mad also.

I walked away thinking they were a bunch of dinks, but part of the problem was I was mad at myself for having them do it.

I won't go there again.

why were you mad? $60 sounds like a resonable rate to me...figure the going rate for a welder that can Tig is around $85/hr...with prep time and setup time I bet it was atleast an hours worth of work...

I had a bad experience once too. Mine was painted gloss black however. They were assholes to me and I will never go back.

I went to pick it up, I looked inside, I could see clogged passages. The shop foreman told me they probably pulled the bottom off and rodded it out from the bottom. ( I know from a quality radiator shop that they pull the top and bottom to rodd them out) I told the Foreman that I was a business man, and that I would never try to sell any thing that I would not buy myself. I then asked him if he would buy that radiator HE SAID "NO" I was so pissed off I almost lost it. He told me they woul take care of it. I call back 4 DAYS LATER they dont' know where it is ( I have already paid ) they finally find it. I go and pick it up and guess what????????? YOU GUESSED IT IT STILL HAD CLOGGED PASSAGES. I just walked out with my painted radiator, before an assault charge. I WOULD HIGHLY RECCOMEND STAYING AWAY FROM J-MAC RADIATOR ON STATE STREET. BLAZE :mad2: :mad2: :mad2: :mad2:

So have any of you guys had any experience with Be Cool stuff? I guess as much money as I have already spent on my rig I shouldn' bitch. I guess the question should be where is the cheapest place to buy a Be Cool system and I don't mean summit (over priced on everything) racing. This is the second rock rig I've built and not only did I learn a lot from building the first one but I'm doing some things different. I'm using dual fans and so thats another issue I'm checking in to.
As always you guys are a ton of help.

Be Cool stuff ingeneral isn't that expensinve, it's just the conversion radiators.
If you feel you need a conversion radiator, you'll spend some bucks. You should buy a regular aluminum one and take to a place like McNees along with the grill and they will fit it for you for like $100. Best deal Ive seen going. They will make the radiator fit the grill and then weld tabs onto the radiator to mount into the grill. So you would be into a Speedway radiator about $240, compared to $450 or better.

Summit is prolly the best pricing on most stuff...the only other places that I have seen beat summits prices are other large race shops like speedway...you are only paying for the name with the be cool stuff...do like gtidriver said and have one fitted to your grill...you will save a ton of moeny and end up with a product thats jsut as good if not better...

am running a Be Cool in my CJ with a 350 and have not had any problems. A little pricey but I don't have to worry about the cooling system. Well worth the extra bucks in the end!
