dempsey, how can I get one of those little flexible antennas for the HT from the guy in AF. You know... the ones that whip you in the eye?
Also, is this the antenna you use on your suburban?

Is there a website that acts as a receiver, where I can tune in and listen to the 76, for example?
...Here is the website to see all of the APRS beacons: www.aprs.fi . I need to spend a lot more time figuring out all of the APRS stuff but it does seem like it would be pretty for others to see where you're at on trips and whatnot.
it's useful for sending text messages to a ham
So we heard from Nate.
Sorry I couldn't make it last night. Sounds like it was a good session.
I hope that next spring we can put another one of these meetings together before EJS.
dempsey, do you mind if I post my notes here? Or should we start another thread for the ham database?
Kurt, I couldn't remember how exactly you have your APRS set up in the Death Star. I'm pretty sure that your Kenwood is the version before they added the built in chip but what is the external module that you attached to get it hooked up?
I'm also wondering if you obscure your exact position at all like I'm seeing that I'm able to as I go through my setup.
Yeah, I was sad to see you couldn't make it. Scheduling is always a wild card, though.
Next spring? There is no reason to wait that long. I will be happy to let you (and the whole forum) know when I'll have another open evening to do this again soon. I'd be glad to come to your house (if you're willing to host), and I promise I won't utter one insult about your Baofeng radio.
