It's after 2:00 am and I'm on my way to work, and I can expand a little more, but look at your original post and really read into it.

Where I drew in the lines, insert "Blacks", "Hispanics", "Jews", "Muslims", "Down Syndrome people", etc...

...and no, I'm not reading too much into it, but right off the get go you're stating your hate for a particular group of people, liberals.

Just so you know, I'm "liberal", raised in CA. I drink, work Sundays, have sex in more than one position, don't believe in god, and I live in Utah. Now tell me, exactly what are my family values? Think hard before you answer because whatever you say I guarantee you'll be wrong.

You sound like a 'my shit don't stink' punk ass kid. I've probably forgotten more about family values than you've yet to learn.

Rant off.....I've got a train to catch.
BLA BLA BLA.

Oh, sure, NOW it's less than 50%. :) I went to school in the 70's lol!

And I don't agree that you can date whomever you want. I've got too much experience with this, personally and with my kids and neighbors kids too.

(I heard it was "those Catholic girls"!)

K, I'm done now. :D

I've been here my entire life, not LDS. Other than the church controlling the government, I've never felt excluded or looked down upon due to my religious beliefs. I've never been turned down for a date or had an LDS family try to talk their daughter out of dating me because I wasn't LDS or because of what I drove. I never had any friends that couldn't play with me growing up, and I never was excluded from events just because I wasn't LDS.

Maybe you are just looking for ways to play the victim card? Maybe you, your kids, and your neighbor kids have bad manners or some other dastardly quality that makes a tight family shiver at the thought of you? Maybe you don't shower or you were parking on their lawn?

Or perhaps you were just trying to date people who come from closed minded families who were afraid of anything different. In that case, was it the fact that they were LDS that caused the issue, or the fact that they were closed minded assholes? I find it more likely it is the latter more so than the former since the LDS church preaches tolerance and acceptance--but they can't make people do it.

I have to admit that my experience is probably biased since I don't actively seek out strict LDS women nor do I hang out in situations where I would meet them. Why waste time dating someone that you already know is on a different wavelength than your own? Sounds like trying to beat your head against the wall wile simultaneously wiping your ass with the 100 bucks it probably cost to take them out ;)

but back on topic. I think Utah is a great place to raise a family of any kind. Some areas aren't for me, but that's cool.

I did not start this thread to git in to who's beliefs are the best. I know whats best for my family and for the life that I want to lead. If you enjoy your life style and it make you happy great I'm not saying that you cant lead your life that way. that is your choice When I was in my teen and early twenty's I lived life to the fullest my life was just like yours. It did not make me Happy something was missing so I changed things until it made me happy. so you see I do under stand ware you are coming from and that life is not for me or my family. I have been there and done that.
just because I'm conservative does not mean I hate liberal or that I'm racist. It just means that My values are a little old fashioned by today's standards and that the way I like it.
Thanks Chad

Ah...a 'born again'. I understand now. You can't help the way you are.

What was your 'rock bottom'? Alcoholic? Drug addict? Ex con? Admitted homosexual?

Go to the local grocery store and look around at the other customers. If there are a lot of dudes in their 30's and 40's with frosted hair and popped collars, it's not the neighborhood for you. If the women in their 30's and 40's have "Juicy" stitched on accross the butt of their stretch pants... it's not the neighborhood for you.

Liberals are like locusts; they destroy and move on.... unfortunately, I don't think the seagulls can save UT this time.

TRNDRVR why are you so beligerent toward others and find it necessary to tell everyone in every thread that you aren't religious and they are idiots if they are? Tell Unionmine where you live so he can look elsewhere, that is all he asked for.

Unionmine for President! :rofl::rofl:

I grew up in Colorado for 23 years and move to Moab, then Park City, then Heber and now Magna. I HATED Utah when I moved to Magna. Moab was awesome and well diverse. I really enjoy tourist towns for the fact that they always have a steady flow of cultural diversity flowing all the time from all over the world. Park City was the same thing for me and then moving to Magna was like living in my own personal hell at the beginning. I came from a catholic family who went to church twice a year and didn't have religious figurines, sayings and things like that in their homes to remind us there was "someone" watching your every move. lol. So I HAD a problem with a church run state and realized the control (at the time) that the LDS church had was just mind baffling to me.
I also started to realize that I was being a narrow minded little girl and needed to learn more about my surroundings, what it had to offer and the good side of everything about Utah.
The fact that it’s a very family oriented state is awesome to me. Now having my own family, the fact that most of my friends have kids of their own and LOVE them and WANT to have them participate in all their activities is great! I work in the Scrapbooking industry, which to me (in this state) is a very LDS activity. Not one of the families or girls I have come across have ever, openly, thought twice about where my stand points were on religion, politics or family values. So far everyone is really accepting, open minded and willing to talk about what you want to and I appreciate and respect that. When it comes down to it, there is a minority of people who are extremists with their outward beliefs and feel the need to endure it on everyone else who doesn’t ask for it.
Utah is now my home, I love it and even though I am not LDS, enjoy alcohol, agnostic and think that banking corporations and government have too much control and MTV and all new channels are rotting our brains. I think as long as you keep an open mind about life and its surroundings, the area and people you CHOOSE to put in your life, that you can be one merry Mofo the rest of your life.
If you’re looking for a better place for your family then do it man, but do it with an open mind and the fact that life always changes and boys get girls pregnant no matter where you live and your next door neighbor might just have a meth lab in their basement. :D

The problem that people fail to see is that there are idiotic, close minded, bigots on BOTH sides... liberal or conservative.

Why can't people just be themselves and not be socially tied to a "party" or "idea".

Because most people are too afraid to stand alone on a subject--they need the validation of a peer group to feel secure. They have to categorize and label themselves and others into nice tidy groups so they can efficiently identify who is "with them" or "against them".

I personally have some very liberal stances on subjects and very conservative on others. How anyone can categorically align with a pre-determined set of beliefs is a mystery to me--especially since those beliefs come from the top down and are often assigned to the highest bidder in our political system.

I didn't say that we didn't have close minded repubs here. Just being a prick back to everyone that has called those us who are traditional america, small government loving, constitution supporting, God respecting people; close minded without individual thought, bigots. I get so sick of liberals not realizing they have just as many close minded sheep on their side of the fence. And with most media outlets in the hands of liberal production those numbers are growing as a natural result. Liberalism isn't the cool anti establishment, intellectually chic philosophy anymore, it's now the norm.

I'm confused. Did a liberal call you this or did a person?

To clarify, I wasn't specifically commenting toward you... my post was in general and pointed in every direction. ;) The funny thing is that most people are (I'm willing to bet) middle of the grid type people. But the amount of misinformation about each side pushes and pulls people until things start getting more and more polarized.

Just think about how many half-truths and mis-information there is out there about people who "off-road". I bet most off-roaders, hikers, mtn bikers would get along a lot better if there were not (profiteering) organizations out there directly polarizing the issues.
