Purpose of a stinger

yeah, i'm down with that... or, the rear 'stinger' in that other picture only scaled down to about the middle of the wheel; i think would be ok looking... i'm just not a fan of the super tall one... no purpose..

I have saved a roll over by hitting reverse and the gas with my auto a couple of times, but once I panickd jammed reverse and punched it, and reverse was the wrong torque direction I needed to save it,stupid me ended up making it worse causeing me to roll my ZJ over two rolls instead of likely just onto the roof.

Been there, done that. Not with a ZJ, but....

It does have a purpose but probably not the one intended. I'm assuming it would sorta help out in a roll over if you did not have a cage but the real benefit is that when you drop the tire to to gound it supports it. If it was only 1/2 height the tire would hit the ground first and be a PITA to remove/replace.

true...but when you got 38plus size tire the spare will allways be a pita.
