Just as a follow up......

......I got tired of wrestling with the 38" SX's and took them up to my friendly neighborhood Goodyear tire store...:D (378 South West Temple). I bribed the shop to help me out and it only took us about 15 minutes to put all 4 on. The cool trick is LUBE, multiple people (2) and some serious pushing. We actually put the insert on the ground, chocked it with wheel chocks, set the tire perpendicular to the insert (lots of lube) and pushed down. Worked pretty good, and I've got all four inserts in the 38" SX's. :D

I can't imagine having too hard of time putting the wheels together (famous last words?) but if I do, I'll report on resolution of that.

EDIT: The only problem I had with putting the wheels together was getting everything bolted together so the wheels didn't leak. Gave my impact (and compressor) a workout. There are three methods I've found during my H1 wheel tech search to 'stop' leaks, silicone, grease and a 'new' o-ring. I have new o-rings, so I thought I'd try that on one tire, grease method on another and siliconed the other two. I marked the inside of the wheel so I could tell which method worked better.

not to hijack your thread but how much does a set of four of these (rims with run flats) usually cost? and is there anywhere other than (pbb) to get them?

I got the wheels from another member, and bought the inserts off of 66CJDean on PBB. John at Stazworks also has some and both are reportedly very reputable. I can't complain at all about Dean as he's took good care of me, but John seemed like a real standup guy (as was Dean). The inserts are priced around $50 for the PVC and the wheels can go from really cheap $25 to $100 (kind of high, IMHO).

I think the wheels will work out AWESOME for my dually front axle as the backspacing is SEVERE (at least 7" or so). That should just cover my lockout hub so it's not exposed quite as bad as a 'normal' SRW hub...........Pics to come....:D

Ahhhh, it's goot to see those tires and rims mated at last. They look pretty good on there. Let me know how that jeep turns out for you Mark, post some kind of progress thread or something.

I'm just going to go with the 241 for now.......maybe build the D300, maybe use the VISA for what the cool kids have.....:D
Good plan. Do the 241 and get it going, then replace it with something cool when you can. :)
