So I joined this site over 10 years ago when I was working at Rocky Road Outfitters... Since leaving that job I've lurked here off and on since I haven't been into the off-road scene as much as I would like. I just wondered what happened to RRO? Seems there's poor reviews and such of them now and back then they seemed to be the bees knees.. So?

I know some of the grand cherokee crowd wasn't too happy with them because they stole some images of their rigs, that weren't even running RRO products, and used them on the RRO site without permission. Other than that, I kind of like their slider design for tacomas, but haven't had any interaction with them.

I have their super sliders on my 97 ZJ but only because I got a steal of a deal on them from a private seller, this was after I looked at buying from RRO but they refused to let me pick them up as a local buyer and insisted on shipping them to me. Years before this I inquired about their OME lifts knowing full well OME never made anything taller than a 1 inch coil specifically for the ZJ, they proceeded to lie about their taller springs trying to pass off the lighter TJ springs as a ZJ spring. After that I never recommended them for anything.

Way back when I first bought my Samurai, I tried giving them a call for some product information. After multiple trys, I finally got someone on the phone. The guy on the phone didnt seem to want to help me, or give me any further information on there Jeep Eater kit. After that I Googled them, and saw the reviews. I decided not to give them my business. That is when I learned of Low Range, and being even closer went to them.

I am interested in seeing how RROs latest venture goes with ZOR...

I've always been a little surprised that no one really talks about them in Utah? I've had good service with them and picked up things at their shop with no shipping needed. The guys at the phone were cool. I admit that has been 10 years ago :)
I liked them for some of their Nissan products. and I have their sliders on my YJ; they are absolutely indestructible.

Totally Awesome
I've had horrible service everytime I've called them. I once ordered some OME springs from them. IT two weeks for them to ship them out. Even after repeated calls, and they were jerks on the phone each time I called. I've never done business with them since. I'd rather order out of state for the springs I want then screw with them.

Personally, I never had a bad experience with RRO. Granted, I worked for them very briefly 13 years ago and since I'm in Heber fairly regularly, I would always just stop in. But the things I've heard are that they have had some customer service issues over the years that have turned people off. And since nothing dies on the internet, the reputation of bad service just snowballed. They could have been proactive and tried to dispel the reputation, but they haven't. Last I heard, they were selling mostly to South America, so I guess perhaps they don't care? Plus, their website just sucks.

A friend of mine's ex wife has been running the company and she's made a lot of dough in the past couple of years. She bought a nice place in Park City.

A well thought out and very on point reply. I just did some business with RRO in the last couple of months and I was impressed with the customer service and willingness to help. It was a good experience. It appears Glenn is not in the shop much any longer but whoever is running it is doing a good job IMHO. Big kudos to any off road company that survived the crash.

That's good to hear. I've stayed away from RRO a little because of their rep, but mostly because of a bad experience I had when investigating a purchase that reinforced what others were saying. If I started hearing more good things about them I'd be inclined to think about spending money with them again.

That's a shame they aren't more retroactive on situations that have turned into 'sticking points' for some.

My interaction with them back in April 2013 was entirely pleasant - I ordered OME shocks and springs from them for my Trooper and the transaction couldn't have been smoother. They even gave me the package discount for ordering the entire shock/spring setup. I worked with Jared, mainly via email, and he was quick to respond and knowledgable. They had no problem with me picking them up from their facility on Heber. Even showed me a set of their supersliders while there (want).

Based on my experience, I would definitely order from them again.
