Questions about locking differentials

Just looking for ideas on locking differentials for my 72 Chevrolet c10 truck. Dana 60 rear. Daily driver so from what I've seen Detroit Locker might not make the best sence unless they have smothed out around corners from last time I looked. Not interested in ARB's. Is there anything else out there that will really lock up when needed , but is forgiving for daily driver?

You are trying to find a paradox. Something that works well off road and on road. Tough to do for sure. You may be interested in an electronic locking differential. It is a limited slip when not engaged and locks into a full locker. You may try looking at the Eaton site for one.

Detroits work fine, esp. in longer-wheelbase rigs. I barely know mine is there in a fullsize Blazer.. but then, I've modified my right foot's habits through corners, too.

You can't have it both ways: either you go selectable and pay the piper, OR, you go with something like a Detroit and work around the small limitations.

I had Detroit in my lj. Only thing I had to modify about my driving was going around a corner with my foot off the gas. But who want to be driving a lifted rig with no sway bars around a corner punching the gas anyways?

You way want to look into limited slips. Better on the road and gives you some of the benefits of a locker off-road.
Why are you not interested in ARB's? Is it due to the cost or other reasons?

if you want a "locker" DON"T GO WITH LS. detroits are nice as long as your not a heavy footed driver in the corners like stated before. Look at cable lockers also OX is a good brand.

I was very satisfied with the old Torsen Gleason's on my old Scout II. To me it was the best compromise and the only technique you had to learn was using the brake and gas at the same time in certain situations other wise you did not know it was there and it was always available.

Thanks for the responses! Not interested in ARB because of all the extra's that can go wrong.......compressor, lines, etc. Looking for something that is just about is bulletproof as possible. Guess I will revisit the Detroit Locker again. Who other than "OX" makes cable lockers for a Dana 60?
