I've decided to wait and go with a good 4 core thats made to fit.
Honestly, I would consider some other options....
I ran the "desert cooler" 4 core and it did not help cool any better. I fought overhearing for 10+ years....The final solution was the 19x26 alum with 2 1" cores and a custom shroud. Now it runs right on the thermostat regardless of the ambient temps....
As it was explained to me, the 4 core has very little if any more cooling capacity than the 3 core....Theory is that by time the air has passed over the first 2-3 cores, the air is now about the same temp as the cores, therefore offering little cooling. You do get slightly more fluid capacity though....
Prior to the jump to an alum radiator, I tried custom 4 cores made from a stock tank radiator, and 2 different aftermarket 4 cores. Took out the inner fenders, punched holes in the hood scoop, got the flow cooler water pump, tried every thermostat under the sun, even tried no thermostat and restrictor plates, plumbed the back if the intake manifold for better flow, tried several additives/coolants/plain water....all with very little additional cooling.
The SHROUD with the alum rad is the only thing that finally cooled it.
