does anyone know what radiators would fit an early bronco?
I'm going to picknpul tomorrow morning with a tape measure to see if I can find something that I can make fit.
I can't afford $250-500 they want for new ones and I just need functional, mounts can be fabricated.
My 3 core only has 11/2 core left.

Not much that will cool it....at least not without a lot of mods. The EB has a wp that is backwards from most Ford....the Radiator top and bottom outlets are are the opposite side of most other Fords. I would say look at Chev vans. What year is you EB? Does it have powersteering? The stock radiator is notched for the ps box. Do you need the internal trans cooler?

Also check Jegs/Summit for an alum one. If you have to fab, might as well make the jump to alum....Ussually you can get a new universal alum one for under $200. I have the 19"x26" in my EB.

I may still have a radiator in the pile at my moms house, I will go check tonight.

I've decided to wait and go with a good 4 core thats made to fit.:)

Honestly, I would consider some other options....
I ran the "desert cooler" 4 core and it did not help cool any better. I fought overhearing for 10+ years....The final solution was the 19x26 alum with 2 1" cores and a custom shroud. Now it runs right on the thermostat regardless of the ambient temps....

As it was explained to me, the 4 core has very little if any more cooling capacity than the 3 core....Theory is that by time the air has passed over the first 2-3 cores, the air is now about the same temp as the cores, therefore offering little cooling. You do get slightly more fluid capacity though....

Prior to the jump to an alum radiator, I tried custom 4 cores made from a stock tank radiator, and 2 different aftermarket 4 cores. Took out the inner fenders, punched holes in the hood scoop, got the flow cooler water pump, tried every thermostat under the sun, even tried no thermostat and restrictor plates, plumbed the back if the intake manifold for better flow, tried several additives/coolants/plain water....all with very little additional cooling.

The SHROUD with the alum rad is the only thing that finally cooled it.

Thanks Marc. I'm going to take your advice on this.
It sounds like you've already done all the testing for me:D
I've got the center out of my thermostat now and it stays
at about 180 as long as I take it easy (under 50mph).

No problem....18 years of owning an EB (or 3-4-5) leads to trying lots of stuff:D

I cured my overheating with an aluminum job out of a 5.0 Explorer. It is much taller than the stock and requires a notch in the frame (just one side), but it is well worth the modification IMHO; that extra 10 inches of radiator makes all the difference. I run a Warn upright in front of mine and have never seen over thermostat temp since it was installed.
