Ram Runner

So I was looking at the new Mopar Ram Runner kit and have a question. If I were to put just the fenders and quarters on my truck with no lift how big of tire do you think I could fit? The fenders and quarters are around $2400 and a decent lift would be about the same so I'm thinking of just doing the Ram Runner instead of a lift to keep my center of gravity down. I would like to fit 37" to 40" tires on it. I like my tires like I like my women, tall and skinny :) so I think they would go inside the fender on the up travel.

Will a tire that large with no lift clear the frame when turning? Otherwise, I love where your heads at.

I don't think they would fit. If the full kit include a lift the tires in that picture are only 37's. How would you fit a 37 or 40's without the lift? Don't see it.

I'll have to look at the frame issue. I assume correct backspacing will help.

Badger, you bring up a good point. My thought is it is made for huge articulation while moving very fast through the desert where as I'll be moving slow through rocks. You are correct though it may not work. I know with the Power Wagon you can fit 35's on with some rubbing on the inner fender and lower control arm. I think the Ram Runner would eliminate the inner fender problem but I would sill have to fix the control arm with either bent front arms or less backspacing on the rims.

I won't have the money to do it for a few months and I'm hoping that someone will try it before I'm ready so I would know for sure.

I did the Ram Runner setup. Ken Garff has one they bring out to many of the events, I'd love to get some seat time in it down some dirt roads!

I think the 37" tires will fit but, it will be close. I assume you are talking about a 2500 or a 3500, right? If so I have seen 35" tires on without a lift and I have seen them with just a leveling kit. The problem with the leveling kit is it moves the axle towards the firewall. This actually creates less room especially while turning. Seems like I saw a guy with 37" tires on without any lift. Let me see if I can find it.

Thanks for the link. I like the looks of that truck. The Power Wagon is a 2500 with I believe a factory 2" lift over other 2500's. I know the rear has different spring packs that flex more and the front I think is just a 2" longer coil. They also come stock with Bilstein shocks all around.

Fab up some adjustable control arms and maybe add new springs. Three inches of lift should be adequate. Possibly some 3.0 coilovers up front. Fenders will help, but a small lift enhancement with good adjustability would make your powerwagon tits...

Good point. Even just having HD control arms I've heard helps a lot with these trucks.

Maybe I missed it but are we talking 1500 or a 2500/3500? I'm assuming the front suspension would make a big difference in your equasion. FYI my '04 2500 with a front level and a slightly wider offset rim fit 35" just fine.

It's a 2500 so I would have to "adjust" them to fit.
