Noticed the RC post and wondered what you guys do for batteries in your RC's. A friend of mine in Cal. raced RC cars and was very concerned about batteries, motors, and tires. He would discharge his batteries entirely and recharge them after each race. His were Ni-cad as I do not believe they had some of the better ones available today, My reason for asking is that I had to rebuild a couple of battery packs for my power tools as I found that the new battery pack was $79 and I was able to rebuild it for just over $20.

You're all WEAK SAUCE!
20 bucks is cheap. What cells did you use and where did you get them?

I haven't built any batteries for a while, but I used to have good luck with batteryspace.com. Not really high performance, but solid for the price.

man, I remember those days!! My first hobby grade had packs I would full discharge to "preserve" the battery from going bad.

But now-a-days, the batteries of choice are Li-Po packs. They last atleast twice as long as those packs, if not more, give you more power, etc.

I used 1500 mAh sub c Ni-cad from onlybatteries.com. If I had it to do over I would have gone with the 2100 mAh. The higher mAh batteries are too expensive.
Did you happen to know Chuck Van De Weigh, he had his picture in some of the RC Racing magazines in the late 80's and early 90's. He is the friend I mentioned in the first post.
