My friend is trying to pull his rear hubs to put in a one piece axle. He rented a puller from checker and said the puller is not long enough. Does anyone know where to get a puller to get these hubs out? Or know how to do this mod?
Thanks,
Brandon

You should be able to put a wheel back on with loose lug nuts. Then give the wheel a sharp pull so it acts like a slide hammer. The momentum of the wheel should break the hold.
Before i read that trick I got a little creative with a sissor jack, one side against the axle, one side against the spring. It worked but I would try the tire trick first.

Get a few feet of chain, put one end on a stud, with a nut to hold it on, whip the chain a couple times, should come right off....BE CAREFUL!!!!!!!!!!! to much whip can embed the hud in a forehead......

i spent many thousands of dollars on the AMC 2 Piece rear junk, trying to keep it alive. throw it away. its your best bet. get a dana 44, gm 12 bolt or a gm 9.5 inch 14 bolt. the money saved on carriers and axle shafts will be cheaper than money you will throw at the amc. by the way, that hub face was torqued down to over 250 lb-ft, plus its rusted on. try the tire trick first, or go to harbor frieght and pick up a 13 pound slide hammer. its like 25 bucks. works like a charm, and now you have a slide hammer.
