Rear links. How long is too long?

You are correct.. those lower links should be mounted out wider... the closer in you have your link mounts, the more leverage you are putting on the link ends when you push your tire up against an obstacle... and the more likely you are to have a failure of a link end, or link mount....

This design is called a triangulated four link. So, the links are fine. As a matter of fact they could probably be even closer (on the crossmember) for an even more proper triangulated four link; however, I pushed them out a little bit for the reason that you have mentioned. The lower links have FJ80 lower control arm ends and 1 1/4 heims--they won't fail.

I chose this design for clearance. Mainly because I hate the idea of a large brackets being mounted to the frame and getting caught up on rocks. This design allows me to more easily slide over rocks and helps protect my transfercase and driveline better. Lastly, based off of my research and measurements this was simply the best place.

-_- I know what a triangulated 4-link is... what we are saying is the axle end of your lower link mounts shouldn't be so close to the pumpkin and should be out by your brakes...

Ahhhhh. I understand what you mean now. Yes, I agree. Everything is just thrown under there right now as I am working on the fenders. They normally rest at the width of the frame. Also, my pumkin is offset so it looks way worse than it really is. I just wanted to get some pics up and wasn't too worried about exactness. Should have know better due the pundits that hang out on this site.
