Now that the jeep is just about wrapped up I picked up a 1998 chevy S-10 2wd shortbed regular cab pickup for my next project. I have a 5.3 out of a 2003 tahoe i originally picked up for the jeep. I am not shooting for an insane drag truck or anything just something with some oomph i figured with a cam and a good solid tune i could pull between 350-400 horse out of it, in a truck that will weigh practically nothing it should scoot right along.

I just dont know how to pick out the right cam for it any suggestions???

It really is not that easy. It would be helpful to know a bit more about the truck. I would recommend a cam that has little or no extra lift. Instead I would look for a cam that has a wider duration rather than lift. This keeps the valves open longer rather than higher. With a higher cam you start needing to replace valve springs, rockers, lifters, and maybe even change the valve size to get the full benefit of the cam. Never mind the push rods themselves. Let us know about the heads. Valve size, intake size, exhaust size, combustion chamber size, compression, and the intake. All these things need to work together like a well orchestrated ballet.
