jeepforum.com in the YJ Tech Forum this topic is covered many many times, and from what I gather out of all of them is that it is all in the prep work.

If you do not want to DIY call ARA in Orem ask for Bill Shields (Manager) tell him that Bone Down sent you and he will take care of you.

Bill is one of the orginal guys to bring Rhino Lining to the state of Utah, he now sells the Turbo Liner and tells me that it is better product than the rhino stuff, he has been doing spray on bed liners now for better than ten years; before this he used to paint cars, mostly custom paint jobs for show cars. He has been in the automotive sestyling business for 20 years now (or more)

ARA has been around for 30 years doing after market and also has a store located in SLC

What do you think i should expect to pay to do about a 10" rocker panel all around my jeep plus the inner fenders?

I don't know, I would call him and ask, I am looking to have him do the inside of mine some time soon, but I have not priced it out yet.

i'd also go for the good stuff. i herculined my jeep a few years ago and even though i don't like it, the stuff has stayed on very very well. i was a good prepper, but should have done several coats instead of just 2.

Isn't that stuff pretty spendy? Like $100 a can? how far does a can go?

yeah i guess it is, as far as a quick online check goes. $130 for the gallon kit. per extra quart is around $30. i faintly remember a sale when i bought mine to bump it down to $100 for the kit. i also just spotted the UV protectant. that's gotta be the reason why i don't like mine... it faded after one summer.

i think i used the gallon for the first coat and then it sat and got hard so i added another coat a couple months later from a quart can. i think 2 quarts will easily get the inside of a tj. just do it all at the same time, and preferrably outdoors. it stunk up our garage for a week! but what am i saying this for? you're not actually going that route are you?

Heculiner is pretty good. I put it on my rockers, and the fender trim on my Rodeo. It has held up pretty well. Like said before it does fade quickly, and 2 coats aren't enough. A gallon is plenty for a Jeep. A buddy and myself split a gallon to do our trucks(a Rodeo & 1st gen 4Runner) He did his boulder bars and rear tailgate, I did a 12" rocker. We still had 1/4 of the gallon left. I should have used it all and put on the extra coats, but you get the idea.

I know having it done isn't cheap. Another buddy of mind paid an extra $425 to have his rockers done when they did the bed of his Tacoma. Another friend had his bumpers/boulder bars done and it was around $350.

1 gallon of Herculiner will easily get it done, and will give you enough to get the multiple coats you are after.

Thanks Guys, I'll look at the Heculiner with the UV protectant, that will be nice then I can touch it up later with the extra. Does it roll on or spray, and do you have to have a special nozel for the thick linner?

I've used Herculiner, Duplicolor and Durabak which is available at
http://www.durabakcompany.com/google-durabak.htm
Herculiner peels off and fades as mentioned. The kit comes w/ the roller and everything you need. I only used 2 coats and wish I did 3 or 4. Duplicolor is only $40 or so from Wally world or any car parts store. It has held up about the same. Durabak is a two part mix that seems to work really well. Its available in 15 colors starting at about the same price as Herculiner. I would say get the Durabak but do lots of prep work and you should be happy with it.

Good Luck, Brad J

Don't rhino line the bars. I have mine rhino lined and it lasted one trip, peeled it right off. Yes, they were prepped properly as well. Go with the cheap stuff so when you screw it up you can just go back over it.
