Rubicon t-case in my YJ

I am thinking about buying a rubicon case to put in my four cylinder YJ.
Will it bolt in besides changing the inputs? I have an ax5 which is 21 spline and the rubicon is a 23 spline. Are they the same length? Do they use the same yokes? Will it fit height wise? Don't just tell me they are the exact same if you don't know for sure, and that is what you "heard", thanks.

I forgot to say my tcase already has a slip yoke eliminator installed. I already have a c.v. shaft. Are the u joints the same size?

That I cant answer. You're more than welcome to look at mine if you wish. When I did my lift, I had to swap out the stock yoke and balancer thingy-bob so you may have to do that to match your existing driveline. Not real pricey though.

The input is different, but you knew that.
The 241 is a bunch shorter than the 231 - it's almost Atlas size 15-1/4 while the Atlas is 15" I think?
It has different yokes - 1330 on the front and a flange in the rear. Tom Woods makes an adapter for that flange or a new driveline setup with 1350 joints.
The speedo is different - your mechanical will not work anymore. You will need to upgrade to a digital speedo.

If you were to swap in a NV3550 tranny at the same time, youw ouldn't have any miss match and you would have a much better tranny, too! I'm not sure on the 2.5, but the 4.0 is almost a direct bolt in.

Now that is just a plain old waste of money!!!!!!!!!!!! Think about it... $1300 for a tera low and $400 for HD SYE = $1700 and you still have a NP231. OR you can buy an Atlas for ~$2000 or a Stak for ~$1800 and be WAY better off!

If you can't afford the larger jump, and don't already have the HD SYE do that first and then you can sell the 231 w/SYE pretty easy and probably around $1,000.. Then buy the Atlas/Stak.

Or do the NV3550 and NV241OR upgrade at the same time... I dont' know about the 2.5, but the 4.0 has the same bell housing IF you have an external slave cylinder. If it's internal, then you would need to change the bell housing too. But if it's external, simply changing the tranny and tcase is all that is really needed.

1700 is a waste of money. I already have an H.D. SYE and 890 for the teralow on ebay plus 10 in shipping, (I would rather support a vendor onhere but for 400 bucks different I can't), makes 900 bucks. half the price of the stak. I would rather have the stak. I'm not that worried about breaking the 231 with a 4 cyl and 35s, it could happen. I have never had a problem with any of the 231s I have ever ran. I would like a beefier tcase. I might just have to get what I can afford. Maybe I'll get rich and buy the atlas or stak.

But then it's a 231 with a 4 low kit in it. Ask around at how many people would buy that and for what amount. The value just isn't there. I don't think you will break the 231 either, but that's not really my point. Just polishing up turds ;)
