Took the new buggy up rusty nail today, or tried to. Some jerk forgot to gas up the buggy and then didn't know where the trail went after the "no left turn" rock. So we hiked for a while and picked up the trail here and there, but really didn't figure out where it goes after it goes around the little canyon and over the hill. So we turned around and came back. I was a little worried about going backwards over what we had just come up, but it wasn't bad at all. We even made it back to the trailer under our own power, running on fumes.
Truck and trailer at trailhead.

Then on to the next obsticle just around the bend. I took the right line, it worked out great, but next time I'll try the left hand side.

Then, about 200 yards later is "no left turn". Turns out that this looks alot worse that it really is.

This is where we stopped and went for a little hike to try and follow the trail, but lost it at the top of the hill. There was a quad up there, looked like it had broke and someone had stashed it to come back for it later.

Then back up "no right turn" and hurried out to the trailer on fumes.

That is all.
If anyone could tell me where the trail goes from there, that would be great. And next time I'll gas up first. :greg:

Pretty much goes up the rock slab, a bit off the left. If there are no tracks you still pick a good line. Comes into the Golden Spike trail just before going around the big boulders and down to the Crack.

We found a GS trail marker but still couldn't really figure out where the two joined togeather. Oh well. Next time I'll take someone who knows.:ugh:

Looks like the buggy is working out great! :)

It has been a great trip for the first time out with the buggy. No major issues to speak of. A few loose bolts and a hose clamp. All easily repaired. It's a whole different world in a buggy Vs. the ol toyota.;)

that trail can get a little confusing at the little canyon, seems like I always end up wandering around a little bit.
buggy looks great.

At least you got to run it... I drove all the way in several times just to be turned around by the EJS mafia blocking the road. One day they were on Poison Spyder, so we thought all was good...Again, long drive in for no reason. This time there were also ~20 or so rigs from Poison Spyder Customs - we all got turned around and there were a lot of pissed off people. They really could have put a sign at the bottom so people with tow rigs wouldn't pay $7 to park, drive 30 minutes to be turned around.

Why did they have it shut down? Part of the EJS one way trail system this year?
That sucks man. Sorry I missed you this year.

If you found the GS trail marker you were on Golden Spike. I'll bet there were BIG boulders on your right and you just had to go around them to be at the Crack. If you went below some other trees and boulders on your left you would have been heading toward Double Whammy. You were there man.

Cool pics

No left turn didn't bother me much, but a little ways past there is a ledge you have to drop off on and angle right next to the hole... turns out its not too bad but all I could see out of the K5 was air and no one was around to spot.... then Tara caught up and spotted for me :D

And then people wonder why I always walk....;)

They had exclusive rights to the trail anytime they were on it this year. I think there were 3? other trails like that. They had RR4W volunteers camped out all day at the entrance/exit of all of the trails they were on exclusively.

I have no idea why they blocked off so many trails when they weren't even using them. They should have, IMO, drove up to the PS turn off and blocked it there, not way down by Gemini Bridges.... Golden Spike and etc are popular trails and I believe they had it blocked off the entire 10 days of the safari.
