Tanner (no RME user name that I know of), Herzog, Goat, unltd1, Goat and unltd1's friend from California who's name escapes me, Seth, Kiel, and I hit Rusty Nail on Saturday. As far as I know, a good time was had by all. Kiel had a bit of a transmission heat problem and a steering link that hit the eject button at the top of 'No Left Turn', Tanner had a bum Optima, and Goat split a power steering line. Other than that there was no breakage or major incidents. Everyone stayed wheels down and either drove every obstacle, or took the winch when it was prudent.

Just before we hit golden spike there was another group with a broken (literally broken in half) lower control arm on a TJ. It was butt-welded together and the weld failed. I happened to have a ReadyWelder with me and stopped to help them weld it back together. ReadyWelders are rad. It worked great and I'm sure that arm is now much stronger than the one on the other side.

I didn't get many pictures, but I'll post the ones I did take. If anyone else took some, post them up. I need a new avatar! :D

Especially the entrance (unless a highway was stacked)

No doubt, it's one of the few trails that's gotten harder over time. I remember doing it the first year or two it was open in a YJ on 33s and made every obstacle. The same rig would have a really tough time today.

Thanks for everyone's help this weekend, and also including our friends from CA in the group (Troy& Steph). It was good wheeling with you guys despite the weather. It always feels good to make it home in one piece, even after taking some less than conventional lines.

Rockmonkey, your XJ came out really well and seems to be pretty darn capable. That was cool of you to stay behind and help that guy in the TJ. He clearly wasn't going anywhere until you popped up. Thanks for snapping those pics. I took almost none.

Kiel did really well on his build. His buggy is low-drama and just wheeled like it had been finished for years. Now, if he only had a roof:D

Sorry we missed you. We tried to get you on hells for day 2, but couldn't reach you. We'll keep you in the loop if something new comes up.

I'm guessing this picture shows why Shane mentioned you could use a front axle limiting winch:

Yup, that's the one. On another note, why the hell is that guy trying to push that boulder onto my Jeep? -_- Trying to put it out of it's misery?
