You have as long as you like to get it re-tested. If you want to get it done for free then the time frame will depend on the shop you get it done at. If it fails and the registration expires you will need to get a temporary or have it towed/trailered to the shop-or just drive it and take your chances;)

The Evap system is a sealed system, what it is saying is that there is a leak. you need to run a smoke machine through your fuel system to find the leak. or start by replacing your fuel cap, very common. any shop can run it through and tell you where its leaking. Pepboys does it as part of their engine diag for $89.99. or if ur creative you can do it

Yep, had the test ran and system fixed. Code/light came back a week later, had it retested and the mechanics couldn't figure out why since no smoke was seen leaking out anywhere.. They reset the codes, and lights/codes come on shortly thereafter..

where did you take it?

Its possible you might have leaky injectors, try a full fuel system cleaning. not the pour in ur tank crap but an injector rail cleaning. and try replacing the fuel cap

your guys suck then. Could be evap purge solenoids, it doesn't have to have a leak to be the code. What is the code anyways like P0440 ?

Now, if/when it fails i have a certain amount of time to get it passed correct?

Yes, and no. You will have 15 days to get it to pass, or you will need to pay for the test again. I dont think the is a certain amount of time other than what your wallet can handle

I know I have seen a lot of Catalytic converters on drivers side be the problem, as well as TONS of evap and vacuum leaks.

I can tell you, Audi is probably the worst... with that damn light
