TRNDRVR (Dan) and I spent Sunday down in the San Juans climbing & then descending Imogene Pass. These pics are from 2 different trips, our first attempt at the end of July was thwarted by a flat tire on my rig, with no spare tire which prompted the end of our trip and Dan making an emergency run to find a spare in Ouray. We vowed to come back and make it over Imogene before the snow flew!!

We made it over the pass over Labor Day weekend, here's how the trip progressed, pics from both times.

And back down the other side into Telluride past all the old mining structures. -

It was great to make it over Imogene, we hung out in Telluride for a bit, then headed back over Last Dollar Road as it got dark, which netted us some great animal sightings, then headed home! :)

Very cool. That's one of my favorite roads in the country. We saw a dude on a four wheeler roll over near the top last time.

It's amazing up there, the mining history & buildings down on the Telluride side are pretty neat too.

 There's a lot of places to roll from up there, and none of them would have a good outcome.

The worst outcome for this guy was a pissed-off wife that refused to get back abourd the ATV.

 Wonder how that ended.

Super sweet. How far from your place to Ouray are you?

It's less than 2 hrs from Fruita to Ouray, we've made many day-trips to the San Juans, it's not hard to leave early from Fruita, run a couple trails, grab dinner in Ouray/Silverton/Telluride, then hit the road home for a late evening.

Hopefully we can get down there for a weekend when the Fall colors start to change.
