save a tree

I enjoy wheeling and like to see trails stay open. I was up on Con. and taking pics of some rigs at Eagles nest and seen the damage to the tree that everyone winched to :-\ . Would it be possible to get a permit (if need be) to place a perment cement anchor up top. I would hate to see some anti-wheeling club :mad2: use something as the scaring to this tree to close a trail that we(anyone that goes there)use and enjoy. If this is possible could it be made in to a "wheeling-bbq-trail fix" get together.

It has been talked about before and it seems like everyone was afraid of the liability. That tree is the third or so tree that has been destroyed up there. Too bad.

I've never been all the way to the top to look, but is it possible to put something more like a rock climbing anchor up there. It would take a huge chunk of rock. that would lower liability because someone could put it there with no one knowing and then who would we blame. I know a standard climbing bolt wouldn't cut it, but they do make bigger anchors for just such a purpose I think.

It's not a big deal, I don't know why someone hasn't already done it. All we need to do is get a generator and a hammer drill with a big bit. Drill a big hole, and use construction adhesive to stick an old axle shaft in the hole. Done.

we should get together and get it done. while we are at it we should look into putting the poles in at "THE BYPASS" on the con. to keep people on the trail.

What bypass on you referring to, the one at the begining?

might be able to go look at it this sunday 7/31, I have to work on sat. and see what it would take and get some wheeling in too
