I think I have narrowed down my issue with my 89 burban. My distributor is burnt up... I think. I need to see if someone has a COMPLETE distributor that I can buy cheap or barrow. I know I can buy a new one but I cant afford to pay for a new distributor just to find out that is not my main issue. let me know, thanks is advance.

Does Tacoma still have "Tacoma Land"? He would have three to five that you stepped on when you entered his garage? He's even in your neck of the woods

if this helps: when the distributors fail, its actually just the module inside. I have never seen one of the other parts fail, they are easy as heck to change out, you won't even need to re-time the engine after you swap it (if you haven't messed with the position of the distributor already), and oreilly has them for $37

so even if you just borrow one from someone, I would still just swap in the module so you won't need to mess with timing

Hit the Tear A Part they had lots of them in assorted GM trucks the last time I was out there. They even let you bring the parts back if they don't work.

far enough away
...and if anyone needs non-TBI HEI distributors, let me know. I seem to have like 5 of them, no idea where they've come from. I swear these parts breed on the shelf.

I feel you on that one, my garage is chevy-land too. especially for big-cap HEIs, and what-not. I had some issue on the trail with a big-cap HEI while with a handful of 'yota guys that I didn't even know. it was a pain, and albeit embarrassing so I since pulled it, went small cap, and never looked back. so all my spares are just littering my garage as well as a pile of other chevy parts
