Well, I ripped my gas tank off yesterday wheelin' so I'm thinking about a fuel cell for my bronco, when they are mounted in the bed of a bronco/jeep can you smell gas all the time? would I just run all my plumbing the same as my tank now just with the cell? I'm very interested in one now.....help!
Thanks

Fuel cells are like alot of things in reguards to wheelin- You get what you pay for.
If you get a good cell (RCI,Fuelsafe....ect) You won't have any fuel fumes. If you would like to see quite a few examples, come on down to our shop and I would be happy to show you what we've done and why.

Matt do you have any pics you could send me? I'm thinking about resessing(sp) a fuel cell into my floor but don't want to be smelling fumes all day. I know it's another newbie question, but what exactly does a sending unit do? DO I need one?
I've got a 351w with a holley projection setup, and an electronic fuel pump now, the tank is nothing special just a 23 gallon tank from broncograveyard.
Thanks for all the help!

I've never had fumes off any of my cells, unless it was cracked or leaking while I was upside. If you get an aluminum cell, you need to mount it with some shock resistance. They tend to crack at the seams if rigid mounted.

The poly tanks are more vulnerable to the elements but won't crack as easily. The more expensive cells are nicer, but very pricey. The fuel safes are really nice but need to be fully caged in the mounting process to keep the bladder from knocking through the metal enclosure.

it depends on where you vent it, vent it outside your cab and you shouldn't have fumes unbless it cracks (Like Bart mentioned). I never had any issues with my Jaz fuel cell (same as an RCI basically). The sending unit is for your fuel gauge, no you dont need one if you dont care to know how much fuel you have. You also need to match your sending unit to your gauge to get an accurate reading. The plumbing depends on your setup. Most fuel injection setups have an intake line and a return line, hook those up and you are ready to go. Should be just about the same as hooking up a regular fuel tank.
