... weigh stations. What happens in them? Are there fees assessed? What paperwork is required?

I may be driving a 2.5t truck to CO, and I'm curious what to expect.

I think it's only illegal if they catch you.

There is some distinguishing weight for commercial and non commercial. I think that if you're driving a rig that is over the weight, and it's for recreatioanl/personal use you're ok, but if it's a commercial vehicle you have to stop. I'm sure there is nothing helpful there.....I'm don't know anything.

Are you wondering if you have to stop, what kind of people work at them and if there might be some dating opportunities if you bring some flowers and chocolates? "driving a duece and a half to colorado" doesn't really reveal the nature of your trip and without the GVW loaded I'm sure nobody could tell you what the fees might be.

I do know that if you pass by them when they are closed at night you dont' have to worry about them :D

hehe

Deal is: drive a Deuce to somewhere in CO (no details yet), empty,ev no load, and drop truck off at new owner's. I've heard several things, ranging from "any weight, non-commercial is ok", to "ALL trucks over 10k have to stop" and so on.

I doubt I have to stop, but.... I'd hate to get pulled over in East Guam, Kansas or something for violating some rule. The couple times I've driven military vehicles, there have been no problems. :D :D

GVW empty is like 13.5k or something ludicrous like that.

Fairly certain your fine, I see large Motorhomes and RV's blowing past them all the time, but I know KrisK works (or worked) at one, try PMing him.

All trucks over 10,000 pounds and all commercial vehicles with livestock are required to enter Utah weigh stations. All vehicles with dealer tags are required to stop at the ports of entry.

Why would I need a medical? It's not CDL.

We had a truck that was 26.000 GVWR and no cdl was reqiured, But medical card was.
So I'm not sure what weight it starts at.
We have another truck thats 13.000 GVWR and no medical card reqiured.
give me a minute. I'll find out.

Can't figure it out. At 13.500 you should be fine. If your concerned, just give them a call.

Also it's not what the vehicle ways, It's what it's rated for.
