This would be all new to me so give me some input.
How much for initial cost .
Monthly maintenance cost.
It would be like a blog with product so is it difficult to post updates.
I would be the only person posting.
It would have to be very inexpensive.
Could I use my home computer or would new equipment be required?
Help!!!

Initial cost is a domain name and a hosting account. Domain names are $8-$14 (per year), hosting accounts range from almost nothing to lots, depending on what you want/need. You would also have to design it. If you wanted to do it yourself, or find a free template that works for you, it won't cost you anything. If you pay someone, it will be anywhere from $50-???? or more. Monthly maintenance costs are usually included in the cost of the hosting account. If you are do it yourself (no reason not to, there isn't much monthly "maintenance") it won't cost you anything. I've yet to find any blog software better than wordpress (which is free). You can use your own computer to update/post but you will need to host the site elsewhere (see above about that cost).

If you want help with any part of this, hit me up.

Blogs are super easy, I'd take a look at that. You could also have the product handled third party as well. Which all means that it is low cost and low tech for you.
Browse:
Tumblr.com
blogspot.com
to see if they fits your needs.

If a true website is what you need, you will need to figure out the level of commitment you have and shoot below that, you will get frustrated. There are a lot of pre-fab website builders that will do the hard work for you. Go-daddy will do everything for you at a cost.

I vote blogs as my professor's site got hacked, probably by a disgruntled student. (He has done web design for Adidas and Smirnof). Blogs are more safe and worry free for the user. They make it easier for others to stay connected on a day to day basis.

Don't use Tumblr or blogspot especially if it is your business.
See 5 Reasons Not to Use Blogger for your blog The bottom line is you are building content for Blogger and not your business. In the Terms of Service is says essentially you don't own your site.

Buy a domain and hosting. Godaddy.com offers deals of $79 a year. If you want a simple and reliable blog/content management system (CMS) use wordpress. Godaddy and many other hosts make it simple to set up and use. You can learn to use Wordpress in a few hours. There are tons of books on the subject.

If you want to do even more buy a SEO friendly template for Wordpress. Add anywhere from $50-$200. I love Thesis but there are many others out there. Wordpress has a huge developer network so there are tons of free add ons called plugins.

if you want more references etc let me know.

This is a little different but really the same subject. I am setting up a network in the house and my brain gets foggy about what I have already done. I have all of the sudden lost remote access to my HP7250 printer and just need some all around help. I will pay $40 per hour to anyone that can come to my house and get me squared away. Would also like some advice on the website/blog question. in South Jordan.
