Okay, I'm tired, didn't wanna search.....but I don't remember a thread like this.

Anyway, I need to get new shocks. I'm tired of how rough the crappy skyjackers I have on my Cherokee ride. I've always heard good things about DT's, and Bilsteins....what else do you guys/girls like? Suggestion's on making it nice and smooth on the road?

OME for lower height lifts when available... I'm sold on their performance versus Bilstein & DT's I've run. In fact the DT's I had had an 1" of dead play in them after just a year, and the bushings were already getting sloppy. For taller Cruiser stuff (read heavy ass Cruisers) I'm still sold on the RS9000's, I've run them on my 40's for years. On lighter rigs they seem to suck, but I like the adjustment of them for my rig when the tops on and the trailers loaded up. Turning them up eliminates some of the rear sway.

I wanna say OME only does like a 2.5" lift for XJ's........but who knows. I think that RS9000's might be a bit stiff, even turned all the way down on my Jeep, but I could be wrong. It's pretty light....3300 lbs last time it was weighed.

I really like the RE monotubes that I have on right now. They seem to be better proportioned for my XJ vs. the DTs and Rancho RS9000s I have had before.

Or not..... I'll never run RS9000s again after having them on my XJ. I bought the DT 8000 and would buy them again.

What was wrong with the 9000's you had? I thought about doing the DT 3000's.....thought the 8000's were a bit stiffer though.....?

zero damping on the 9000........no matter what setting I had them at. I had them right side up too before anyone accuses me of hating an improperly installed shock.

I really liked the DT 8000 on my XJ. I had rear 8000 for a LONG time. I ran the RS9000 front with 32", 33" and 35" tires and finally decided I hated them enough to move on. They didn't get better with tire size.

Bilsteins, love 'em. DTs were some of the worst shocks I ever made the mistake of running.

DT's in my old XJ did ok.

The Ranchos in my work truck are holding up great, albeit w/about 2" of travel LOL I think I'll try them on the Blazer w/the remote kit and see how they work.

I think you said xj so I am not much help but...

on my rig my Rancho 9010x's suck, in fact i have torn a shock mount off and ran with no shock and the thing drives the same on and off road.

the Billsteins I just got are sweet, they are valved properly for my truck.

Ranchos seem to be ok for jeeps though

Quit being a sissy Brett... Just buy some Bilstiens and quit worrying...;)

No really. DT's are cool, but the Bilstiens are so much better riding. Plus you get what you pay for. There is a reason the Skyjacker-Explorer-Rancho whatsits are cheap. I bought a set of Bilsteins (online cheap price was $73.99 each with free shipping) and will buy Bilstiens for any other rig I ever own.:D

Go on... do it.

Give CAGE Offroad Products a try, great ride for a good price.
You can pick them up at Jack it or Sexton Offroad.

I run them on my tow and comp rigs.

I ran rancho 5000's on the toyota (about 3700lbs) and they were very harsh. MT Logan recomended some teraflex that are for a TJ and are mildly gas charged and they are a big improvement over the ranchos.
