Utahs very own Dem, Jim Matheson voted no.
I seldom (to never) agree with dems (pinko commi libs).
But this one was Sooooooooooooo easy.
You should watch a little more closely how he votes and what his policies are. Actually, he is more conservative than most republicans, especially on financial issues. I have lived in multiple states, and was a republican in all of them. When I moved back here, I changed my affiliation to Democrat after closely examining the republican party locally. I vote Independent, whoever I think will most closely support my views, despite party affiliation.
The polarization of the parties being Liberal, or Conservative, is a bunch of crap. I think we saw that on this board with a poll a month or two ago. Most people are within a few degrees of center, either right or left. But the parties breed candidates that need the support of the bases, which are some of the most closed minded, ignorant groups you can find, and then they are spurred on by the Hannity's and Air America's to keep the two parties divided. (Does Rush still use the phrase "You believe it because I say it.") We should do a poll as to where people preffer to get their news, and I gaurantee that it will have a direct connection to how people's oppinions are expressed here. The biggest issue that people showed up to vote for in the last Presidential election...the war?..no...the economy...no...healthcare...no. It was Gay marriage. (Thanks Carl Rove, utah native, because god forbid we should waste money on health benefits to same sex couples, it could cripple our ability to spend a trillion dollars in Iraq.)
It is digusting that the earmarks were added to this bill. I was hoping that a few more days would give some time for a better bill to be passed. My expectations were obviously naive, and overly optimistic.
Thanks Washington.
