Singing the V6 Vortec Blues....

I go to help my bro out yesterday and pull his 80's shortbox Chevy PU on 37's from SLC to Tremonton and my Jeep starts to sputter and backfire. It was running like there was water in the distributor. It would randomly sputter and run like a darn weedwacker. It wasn't a redundant skip it would do it at random. Everynow and then it would run fine, then it would just bog down and start sputtering.


Even wierder is that it is running just fine today? WTF?? Anyone have any ideas? I was thinking about changing the spark plugs, wires, and coil to see if that helps. What else should I check for? I am thinking about running Heat through the gas and see if that helps.

Anyone have some C-4 if this doesn't fix it? :p

Fuel filter is new, the pump is less than 3 years old. Doesn't rule it out but they are both fairly new. Thanks for the advice!

let me translate: PSD= Power Stroke Diesel. CPS= Crank Position Sensor
Plus anyone that says PSD should be shot> :D

I love my Vortec... when it runs. I was thinking about stopping by but I didn't know how you would feel about an uninvited visit. Some people are picky about that stuff. I still need to get my wrench and knife ;).

The Jeep is running good today but yesterday it ran like crap when I started to work it hard. I am guessing that it is the fuel pump or CPS based on what I have researched lately. It also could be the spark plugs/wires/coil/ or distributor cap and rotor. All this only adds up to be 300$ :eek: . Guess I better put in more time on the corner this week. :ugh: :hickey:

Ok guys, lets focus here. :p If Drew's jeep isn't running good I won't have anybody to tow me around, he won't be able to go up the canyon and rescue his friends that keep getting stuck, and what about his wife and cute little boy. They could end up stranded somewhere on the side of the road right in harms way. Let's rally together and figure this out, not just for him, or his brother with the blown motor, but for the women and children....sniff, sniff.

last time I told you that we were heading down to Moab on the 17-21 of March, you said you were broke $$ . If you wanna go, let me know, you can throw a sleeping bag on the floor in mine and my dads room!! WTF sheesh! Lets Roll!!! :cool: KENNETH !!

I'm still broke :( . I thought you were going 17-21'st of Feb. :confused: I need a Mt Dew, my brain is messed up!
