Everyone should do their part and SPEAK UP if ya see any negative trail abuse...
It's unfortunate that the tree at the end of the first rock garden has been severely abused, we can all do are part to educate other around us though if we see something we disagree with on the trail.
What if ya don't know what to do, I was also taught different methods to handle different situation/confrontations at the RME Training Day at MMP. :greg:
- Be calm and friendly and forgiving 1st & mention you just want them to be aware that the offroad community is watched very close for areas being driven on that are not suppose to be part of the "trail".
- Some examples are obvious, but try to simply explain why you are concerned with the activty so they understand if not fully briefed on what was actually wrong.
- Try to pair up with a buddy or help discuss the issues in groups, if you are the first to speak up, most likely the majority of the group will agree something bad might be happening on the trail.
- Use a camera if needed to demonstrate how easy it is to document and archive trail abuse.
I also noticed some new tracks that I wasn't too proud of on Weds... They were in the beginning of RS after the 1st boulder garden and just before the big boulder on the left. The ruts show that some uneducated wheelers headed Right (Up and out of the wash), they wanted to go up and hit some gnarly ledges.
In addition there was a group of wheelers not affiliated with anyone on RME that day that were waiting in line while we did that lengthy trail repair in the WW obstacle... Seems as if they drove up the bypass to keep themselves occupied and if I wasn't neck deep in a semi-dangerous vehicle recover/trail fix situation I would have tried to speak up.
I also noticed more trash than normal on the way into RS (not a ton, but random things here and there)... I just picked up some random trash when we stopped as a group that day. I didn't actually make a point to keep stopping on the fire road going in to pick up additional trash. A quick sweep of the beginning area/fire road could def help out (having a vehicle that is easy to start/stop and get in and out would be nice).
