I had a CJ7, then a Cherokee, then I was dragged into Toyota's kicking and screaming...

My Jeeps saw less trail time and more garage time, Im talking way more than my toyota.

as for cost, the Toyota's are were its at for inexpensive after market. Call it China cheep, I dont care, Im on the trail with a lot less out lay of green.

I just picked up another 1st gen toyota for $250 with lots of parts, I haven't seen a jeep cj or wrangler for that in a while. maybe thats the answer to the main question

Also go on to Pirate any time and look at the number of visitors on each make, Toyotas are almost 2 to 1 most of the time to the other forums.

I sure miss my CJ this time of year......

As long as it's not a Prius hood...wait, on second thought...:p

+1 for the former Jeep owner turned Toyota owner camp :D

Add me to that list as well. im happy because i can spend money on other things instead of upgrading everything that came oem on my jeep i.e. radiators, motor mounts, axles, fuel injectors, headers or exhaust manifolds, cooling fans, transmissions, slip yoke elimintators..... man i can keep that list going but i dont want to flame to much.:D

Boys Boys Boys can't we all get along?

I own both and have to say each has their day in the shop.

Flame on!

i couldn't agree more but my yota has 200k on it and i have done no engine trans or tcase work. i have just been catching up on the neglected suspension and axle maintenance, along with trying to do a lil body work when i have time.

Because most Jeeps with over 150,000 miles is close to death, or already residing at Pick-N-Pull. 150,000 is barely broken in on a Toyota. :p

I would like you to know that I have close to 350,000 on my old cj7 all with the same engine/trany/transfer case... and I use it 4-5 days a week to deliver pizza in! it still makes the annual EJS trip down, wheels all week then drives back under its own power....

So what if it leaks so much oil that I never have to change it... Just slap in a new oil filter every month or two and its good!!!

Jeeps are fun, but Toyota's are cheap. Unless it's a Land Cruiser... :ugh:

It's pretty cheap to build a Toyota mini-truck that is very capable. I think what you're seeing is the effect that the current economy is having on peoples play toys. I'm still toying (hahaa... get it?) with the idea of a beater Toyota PU that has been stripped of the body, with a 22R on propane and a turbo, dual cases, 37-38" tires, etc. Cheap, beatable, fun!

Don't get me wrong, I have loved my Jeeps. Had some great times in my CJ5 and at times I wish I didn't sell it. It kills me to think about the TJ that I built, then sold after being laid-off. :(

I would love to have a FJ40 Land Cruiser that was built similar to my CJ5... a nasty Small Block Chevy and 33 to 35" tires. That would be a riot!

Are toyota guys becoming the new sami guys?

You know the guys who are sitting on the trail with you and all they can talk about is how they got to the same place you did for .10 on the dollar?

"I am only into this beauty 75 cents and your transfer case cost over $2K"

Yea I will still drag you out... :D

Meh - I drive a Toyota cuz it's what I drive. Give me a Jeep, I'll drive that too.

I do think a Scout or early Bronco has a certain amount of class, tho.
