I'm getting ready to swap fluids in my DD and i read this on Amsoil's website

Do not use synthetic lubricant in axles using RTV sealant.
Synthetic lubricant will chemically atack RTV sealant.

So what do i use?

He is a vendor here and knows way too much about this stuff. Hopefully he posts up, but if not call, email or PM him. When I have emailed him in the past I got a very quick response.

I want to see the answer too, after reading the info he send me I am thinking it is time for full synthetic's

Greetings!
You may use silicone with synthetic gear lubes, however you must use a brand that is compatible with driveline fluids. Check the label if it does not specifically say driveline fluid compatible, don't use it.
I have used " right stuff " for the last 5 years on differential covers with zero problems, I have also replaced axle seals recently on a couple that I did several years ago, the " right stuff " was very much intact and in great shape, it has become the only silicone in my shop.
Another feature that I like is it sets up quickly, an excellent time saver.
Hope this helps you !
Have a great day !
Don

Greetings !
Something I forgot to add that may be useful to some, when I use silicone sealant, or any of the variety of loctites available for threads I use ether (starting fluid) to clean any oily film that may prevent adhesion to the metal.
It is cheap, and it leaves the metal clean and dry, similar to how it leaves the piston and sleeves when used to start diesel engines.
A word of caution, stay away from anything hot, as it may whoof like a dog and crisp your eyelashes. :D
Have a great day !
