Does anyone have any experience with these types of camper shells? How do they act on the highway at speed? Collapsibility when it's not in use?

I think they look awesome that is all the help I have. I would imagine they would act just like a jeep soft top.

I like the idea of them. I like the versatility of being able to fold it up at the front of the truck bed (Softtopper) and use the truck bed for bulky crap and whatnot. Just wondering about the waterproofing/dust types of things.

I'm not really trying to make my tow rig an "expedition" rig, but with the price of motels/campgrounds for EJS, I'd just as soon stay "off the grid" a little and buy three-four showers through the week. Trying to make my stay as comfortable and cheap as possible. I've hauled the camp trailer down the last two years and that's more money than it's worth, IMHO. This year I'm kind of bacheloring it for a while, and am wanting to experiment with accommodations a little.

I'm bouncing between the idea of a softtopper vs. camper shell vs. a bed rack/RTT type of thing. Does Kurt still rent those? I should try one out before making to many decisions, I guess.

My Kayline is a lot like a SoftTopper, and I run it year round. It's fine on the highway, if a little noisy and drafty, and collapses in 2 minutes.

Why would anyone do this to a perfectly good truck? :D

Have you considered a roll back cover? At least that keeps your crap out of sight so it's a little more secure.

It's a Dodge. Perfect....not really. Serviceable, yes. :D Just weighing my options. I have considered a rollback cover but I feel like I'd get a little claustrophobic in there. I'm bad enough in a camper shell.
