soft tops in the winter?

It is actually not all that noisy when the tiny pieces of glass fall inside the vehicle..

Just kidding. That is my impression though. My guess the best security I have for my Jeep is the garage door.

Can't complain about my soft top and soft upper doors. My only gripe is parking outside in the winter and having the windows ice up. You can't scrape them. But I discovered that prestone makes a deicing spray that works quite well.

When I was an EMT sometimes you have to know how to get into a car that the door won't open and not have the glass fly at the person in the car.. hence the Auto punch.. quick, quiet, and all the glass just falls in little pieces like a little waterfall

They are a bit cold to start out. get a good coat and wait for the engine to warm up before kicking the heat up.

i'm running a soft topper framless top.
biggest issue i've seen is when snow sits on the top it sags, by adding some support to the top or adding to your cage the "issue" is resolved.

i didn't notice much of a difference between a soft and hard top.

Put me in the soft-top-all-winter-long-and-loving-it camp.

I have owned five TJs, every one of them with a soft top. Two of them had full-size doors, and those were a bit handy in the winter (and a total pain in the arse during the summer). I currently own two sets of doors, so I can run the full-sizers while the snow flies and the half doors the rest of the year.

I've ran the following:
hard top, soft uppers, hard lowers: worst of both worlds
hard top, hard doors: like a car
soft top soft doors: soft lowers: kinda flap at speed but I like this one best
hard lowers, soft uppers, bikini top, wind Jammer... kinda cold in the winter

Not to high jack the thread but it was brought up about taking care of your zippers. What does everyone use and what works best for keeping your zippers working in tip top shape?

I have heard that candle wax dripped along the length of the zipper about 1 drop per inch works quite well!

Wax is good.. but go into wallyworld and in the bike section get the White-lightening bike chain lube (it is a wax lube that goes on easy).. and just drip it on every so often. the good part is dirt doesn't really stick to it and if it does it just flakes off as the wax wears away instead of becoming one with the zipper
