I hear ya, I actually live in the county :D This ended my 6 or more year streak of not getting pulled over, I thought for sure I was getting a ticket..... figures that when I didn't know I was speeding I get pulled over.....

The funny part is that a few miles before I passed him I told my friend to pull out his GPS so I could mark my tach for a speedo.... unfortunately I passed the cop (totally dark on the side of the road) before his GPS ever found it's self.

He asked if I knew how fast I was going to which I said "well, this speedometer said I was doing about 130mph when I passed you...."

I got fished by a UHP in Vernal for no light on my license plate...it was the quickest stop of my life even with the whole CCW tango! He was looking for drunks, I was looking to get to work so no ticket was issued. It was the first time I had an encounter with the cops in over a year, a new personal best!

your lucky that your didn't get a ticket from the layton cop... they are hurting big time for money and fine everyone and there is no getting off easy... and if you look at their fine schedule just about everything is $587...

So feel lucky and if it happens again run to wendover and bet the farm or idaho for the powerball tickets

I've been pulled over 10+ times in my life, never received anything more than an expired registration ticket. It helps having a CCW and being up front and honest about everything. I was speeding 10+ over the speed limit in a snow storm in Idaho, and the trooper that pulled me over let me go with a warning after I told him I knew exactly why he pulled me over, with references to my GPS receiver detailing how I knew exactly how fast I was going! He said he was letting me go because of my honesty. An Orem cop let me go after being pulled over for not using my turn signal because of the way I handled myself during the stop. He said he wished every stop went as well as mine did.

This is how all my infractions go. No sense in lying, they already know you know why you are being pulled over.

Yep honesty gets you far. That and a ccw permit. ;) I love how police officers aren't usually expecting the truth or a straight answer, they almost expect a BS story so when you tell them the truth it's all good

There was only one time that I've been pulled over and I didn't know why. Taylorsville K9 officer pulled me over for having expired insurance (3days ) I had a new card though, so I showed him that and he ran it and found that it was still current, no problems.

Weird part was he said he pulled me over because I looked like I was evading him (I did a quick lane change to get into the turning lane.) I just  and said I didn't even notice your truck was marked.

I had a California moto nab me once, I didn't know why but had a good idea. He didn't see my temp reg from the dealer and my plates were out by 7 mos., I didn't use my blinker in a turn lane and I stopped > < a little close to the vehicle in front of me.

I am 34, and have been pulled over numerous (read: way to many) times and it always, always surprises the cop when you tell them why they pulled you over.

That's how it was with the Idaho trooper. He was a little freaked out about the CCW permit, but honesty prevailed.
