I can’t get the vid to load, but I got it fired up. 😎😎

It started as if I drove it the day before, with virtually no hesitation. The L83 with a Magna flow muffler sounds pretty great.

I found a generic fan shroud on summit racings website that fit the dimensions of the land cruiser radiator perfectly. I have started tweaking it to work.

One connector in my PSI harness was wrong. They supplied one with the notch in the wrong location.

That shouldn't be too hard to swap the plug over. I actually find wiring cathartic.

This weekend, I hacked up a new corvette throttle peddle and welded on the Toyota peddle. The GM pedal not only looked ghey, but it’s shape didn’t really allow for full pedal movement due to the mounting vs the shape of the land cruiser floor pan.

I had no luck in getting either one de-pinned, so I ended up using a tiny file to add another groove in the psi plug. After that it snapped right in.

Between the GM harness that came on the donor engine, and what was removed from the cruiser, I ended up with this box o junk.

And while I have the dash ripped apart, these 1991 relics are getting replaced with new pioneer speakers. I still need to find what speakers will fit in the doors.

I put 6.5" both front and rear doors on mine. IIRC they're a shallower-than-normal version? Pioneer TSG1645R. The fronts fit behind the stock grills, the rears did not.

In any case, assuming you're putting a new head unit in, get rid of (or at least bypass) the factory amp. And probably do something about the factory free-air subwoofer in back.

Edit: Again IIRC, 5 1/4" speakers will fit the rear doors if you don't want to surface-mount the aftermarket grills.

Yeah, there is something funky about the door speakers being shallower than most. I'll snag up some of the Pioneers you mentioned. Thanks for the P/N Carl! I am replacing the head unit with a double din touchscreen Sony. I need to investigate... I don't think I have a factory amp.

It's in the dash. Maybe behind the glove box? I used a Metra harness to plug into the factory plugs, which bypasses it.

I just checked and mine had previously been deleted (it had an old Sony single DIN head unit in it when I got it). Thank you previous owner!

Full float rear axle has been swapped in, and an ARB installed

The front is from Tom woods, and the rear is a lengthened landcruiser shaft.

No pics, but I installed adjustable track bars front and rear. The front axle was quite a bit offset. Maybe an inch.

And then this happened. It finally drove under its own power. 😎

The trans was a little low on fluid, so when it caught, it left a little rubber in the garage. 😂

I wanted to take it on a longer test drive this weekend, but I seem to be having a brake issue. The peddle slowly sinks to the floor. I think it’s a master cylinder, so I’ll get that replaced and try again.

I thought all FJ80s came with FF rear ends? so the "new" one is a 9.5? what was the old one? This thing is rad.

No US FJ80’s had the FF, if appeared on the FZJ80 and was standard on them by 1995.
