Honestly I think a few of these are akin to VRBO’s/AirBNB type things, where a person or couple could fly in, rent the truck/camper as a unit, explore the island and then return it and fly out.

That actually sounds like a great idea!

I have seen these from time to time on trucks and they always look fantastic. I can't imagine they are cheap though, but wonder if there is a company that builds them specifically, or where they are built.

Usually that's a welder that is using that as a way to show his talents. He shows up at the job site with a functional bed with clever features and the foreman asks them about the features. Kind of a mobile "portfolio" for your welding/fab talent?

Definitely a lot more details there than what they showed on the build episodes. The truck and trailer pulling it had Utah plates and I think he's out of the Vegas area. I didn't know if he sold it or if it's up here for a car show or something.
