Alright, this is literally 3 weeks away. Who is going to plan this and who is in for sure?

I am in with 2 Jeeps and possibly my WR450. I just don't want to miss any of the scenery.
I have one nephew-in-law that says he's in and I don't know if Jesse can go, he hasn't committed because he wants to drag his boat down instead.

There are really two threads for the same trip so I don't know if its possible to combine but the other is http://rockymountainextreme.com/showthread.php?t=71902&highlight=hitr

Lets get this thing planned.
Sorry man, I've been thinking a lot about this and been meaning to post something up, but I've been super busy with work and our adoption. I'm still in for sure! Let's setup a meeting place and time. What I was thinking was to take off Friday (the 21st) after I get off work and get down to a nearby place to where we'll be meeting and camp (or hotel it if anything is nearby) for the night. Then meet up with the group and start the run Saturday morning. I figure we should be able to make it in on Saturday and back out on Sunday. Thoughts??? Having never done this trail, do we need an extra day? I would like to start fairly early Saturday (or Friday if we need an extra day).

Sounds good for me. I can take Friday off if needed. What is the water situation? Will we have to pack enough or are there spots where we can purify? Will the camping area(s) be on rock? dirt? trees around? I am very excited for the trip but I have a lot of prep left to do. It is sure coming up fast!!!!:eek::)

I think we need to leave Salt Lake very early Friday the 21st so we can find a camp spot that is about half way into the trail. Saturday would be spent going to the trail end some exploring and back out to possibly the same camp spot as Friday night. Sunday would be for the rest of the trail and travel home.

I like that idea. A bit less rushed than trying to do it in one day and out the next.

I like it. Who is coming as guide? Anyone who knows the history and cool spots on the trail? Or at least someone who has been on the trail before? ;)

Its going to take a honest 6 to 7 hours to drive there from Davis County. My thoughts were to leave Thursday night or Friday morning really bright and early to be at Bull Frog no later than 10am. The Ferry runs at 9am, 11am and 1pm so I would really like to catch the 11am ferry at the latest.

Here is your schedule and fees for the ferry.

Lets get some names on here as to who is going.

I agree. I think I'll head down Thursday night and camp near the marina so I'm not rushed on Friday morning. I'd rather drive late than try and get up super early. So should we put down a meeting time of 9:30ish at the Bull Frog marina?

Attendance so far looks like:
supergper - Caleb
Corban_White - Corban???
rholbrook - Russ???
lhracing - Larry???

Sorry, I'm not sure on names :D

Are there any fees to be on the trail? (Park Fees, etc?) Ferry looks like it's $15 each way. As for water, I'll be toting my own, I'm not sure if there is any along the way. With Jeeps going though, it shouldn't be too tough to throw a jug in one of them.

rholbrook - Russ Driving a TJ or WR450(if I take the 450, my BIL will drive my TJ)
Jaxon(Russ' son) driving a LJ
Cam (Russ' nephew in law) driving a TJ
lhracing - Lane driving a JK

See names corrected above.

I was planning on spending the night in the parking lot at Bullfrog. Maybe hitting the resturant there for breakfast and then jumping on the ferry. It will cost us to get into Bullfrog but I can't remember how much. I got there every year but I can't remember how much. It might be $25/vehicle. I counted on needing to haul stuff for those that ride. I don't know why between all of us that take the jeeps and combines that we can haul your water, gas and camping stuff. One way or another, it will all work out.

Greg, you in still? The TTR230 is great on gas, we can help haul some gas. If you want a little more exciting of a ride, I will haul by WR down for you to ride and then maybe we can switch off. Just a thought.

I'm still planning on it, I think I'm going to go ahead and ride the DR650 since it's more built for this than the TTR.

I've done the trail once before, but I'm no history expert.

Here is what I have found out about fees. There is a, $15 per vehicle 1-7 day use fee for the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. I think these can be purchased at Bullfrog.

The Ferry is $15 for motorcycles and $25 for automobiles. It looks like the ferry departs Bullfrog at 9:00 am and 11:00 am.

Here is a link to some good information on this trail.

Did you need extra gas for your LJ on HITR Trail?
What is a good list of stuff to bring besides food, water, toilet paper, etc. Is there anything that would be essential or necessary in the tool box that some may not think to bring?
