i picked up my new motor last night



my frame is a little to narrow.. i have some 2 inch .250 wall square im not using( im out of money after buying the motor)

if i put the square tube on the outside of my frame. and cut frame the motor would fit perfect and id gain a few inches of room for up travel over the front axle..

it would only be about 3 feet long .


im just afraid you guys will stop talking to me..


it would come up on about a 50 degree angle. then i could cut a notch out of it and bend it to flat.. weld it up.. and then plate it both sides.. and tie a tube from my fender down into it right there ..

any reason why i cant do this?
 
no there is no reason other than if not done right, it will not be strong enough, gusset it alot and make sure your welds are good and you'll will be fine

I would wait til pay day and buy a stick of round tube if I were you I hate the look of square tube when the rest of the rig is round tube.
 
most rigs have some tube work and a rectangle frame .. and that doesn't look that bad so idk why this would look tooo much worse.. but i get what your saying skip

but seth and unstuck(sorry i dont know your real name) say they will still talk to me so im gona go and try to get my motor mounted!



im in a hurry and i know thats a bad thing.. but if i have to wait 2 weeks to get tube to mount my motor. that slows me down alot.. since i cant really do anything tell the motor and t cases are mounted.

i can only work on it weekends and really want to race in moab during ejs




all i have left is finish tube work front and rear,
mount motor and cases

link it front and rear

mount rear mount radiator and fans

blah blah ive got so freaking much to do
 
Ill lend you some 1.75 HREW and some tabs off my wall you wanted on facebook the other day if you wanna drive to Tooele.
 
really? is it just .120 wall i have some 1.5 .120 wall i just dont know if it will be strong enough and i only have a 1 5/8 die

now those tabs hmm lol im going to start tackling the suspension under my gfs land rover soon
 
yeah just .120 wall it will be plenty if its done right. the whole front end of my jeep is 1.75x .120 wall tube its all DOM though

i will have a mount coming off the tube part

with the stock frame the bolt for the mount sits inside stock frame about .5 inch and so i dont have room to make a mount.

if i just put some tube, round or square outside of the stock frame and cut the stock frame off that would give me enough room to make something to mount it too




okay i will be honest i have no freaking clue what im doing

i just knew i was tired of my 45 horse power

so i got a 1.6 8 valve ( 85 hp or so)

then i got a 22r and was going to have one built to the nuts .. 150 hp maybe..a little more

that didnt work out then i got this :)

there all way over my head but i need to start figuring stuff out if i wanta compete
 
have you seen my build pics on facebook of where i cut off the front of my jeep frame and am tubing it out???
