My CJ-7 steering shaft is on the downhill slide (mine stopped telescoping) so I want to get a new one, so who makes a good one? I've heard a stock YJ shaft is a bit stronger than a CJ one, but I wasn't sure if it'd be a direct bolt in. I need one which can accomodate my 3" body lift. Suggestions, and what's a decent price for one?

Thanks

I put a borgesen in mine nice piece but I think they should sell for less than half of what they cost concidering what they are. Same goes for flaming river.

For what its worth the stock shafts have plastic in the slip joint to keep them from telescoping it is when they do telescope that something is not right.

That is how my scouts steering column was when I did my 2" body lift. I drilled out the 2 plastic filled holes. The 1st pic shows how the column used to be. the 2 holes lined up w/ the 2 grooves on the other and was filled up w/ a plastic. I got a Borgeson u-joint and flipped the lower shaft around and it worked great for me. You can also buy DD (double D) shafts and u-joints from Flaming river to replace the whole thing but it will be around $200 probably:-\

I used a Flaming river steering shaft for my EB. Good quality, and collapsible incase of a head on, unlike the stock shaft.

If you want to build your own shaft ive got some 3/4" x 3/4" Sweet MFG. steering Yokes for sale.
