I pulled off the drag link and I can physically move the pitman arm...but I can't see it moving, it moves that little!!! I can feel the movement, and I can hear it. I have tightened the steering box bolts and tried to tighten the pitman arm...I am going to take it back to big-o for a redo on the aligment.

well my death wobble was the steering stabilizer. The dealer replaced it when they were replacing my leaking axle seals. They did it all under warranty with no questions asked. Doug Smith Jeep has been great. I have purchased two new TJs from him no problems at all.

well my jeep before this one was almost paid off when an idiot ran a stop light and I hit her at about 35. I pushed her passenger side door to the center console on a honda civic. My jeep sustained 11 k in damage and they didn't total it. however it didn't drive right and I had to trade it off. My payment stayed the same and I got a little bit nicer jeep. Tip of the day don't have brent brown collision do any repairs. It took them 4 months to rebuild it and I couldn't get it above 50 with out serious pulling and a serious front end shake.

Death Wobble.

There are several issues that can cause that.

First is to have it properly aligned by a shop that is experienced with 4x4 vehicles. IF you are taking it into any of the local shops more than likely it is some 18 year old kid who has to look at a 10 year old book to find FACTORY specs. On a lifted vehicle this will not work.
For example a stock TJ has caster set at 7 degrees. A lifted TJ when properly aligned should be between 4-6, 5 is optimal. Toe-in should also be set at about 1/4-1/8 of an inch in on the front. Camber cannot be adjusted on a solid-front-axle.

If the trackbar is worn out it will cause death wobble. IF the trackbar and the draglink are not parallel it can cause bumpsteer which can throw the vehicle into death wobble.

Make sure that all tires are the same, and at the same air pressure.

A steering stabilizer helps, but is only a band-aid covering the real problem. If you have everything set up like it should, you don't even need a steering stabilizer.

Trackbar seems tight. I have not had it aligned, however I have had a tire that has been very hard to balance. It is currently on the back. At least the 3 different people who have tried haven't been successful. No tire wear and no pulling so I haven't figured I needed an alignment. Tires are all the same pressure.

If trackbar and the draglink are not parallel, how do you get them to be parallel? Just as an FYI mine are very close to being parallel.

Who around town does good 4x4 alignments? The guy that has done mine in the past passed away recently.

See Ricky at Utah Valley Tire-400 South West Temple-801-328-8473. He knows his way around my XJ now and could probably figure some other stuff out (pizza's are always welcome and get EXCELLENT results)

If your trackbar and darglink are close to parallel I would call it good. If they are way off then that is when you should fix things. The only way to get them even is to build a bracket to adjust your trackbar angle- but be sure not to make your track bar shorter- or too short, if yu do say good by to any front flex.

The best alignment place that I know of is All Terrain Auto, they are in murray, just down the street from mepco. Dennis is the owner and he has a YJ that he has built (you should see it 60's, coil overs, everything) anyway he does a really good job. I would highly recommend him.
