Great work Scott, I've got it loaded here on my GPS and everything looks great.

I haven't used the path tool before, I need to try it out. Sounds like DOSS is the resident expert here.

Alright, I think I finally figured it out. I don't have my GPS with me right now so here is hoping it looks good.

http://www.4shared.com/file/GqJI8tJS/Saratoga-ponyexpress.html

The file has 628 lines so I believe it should be valid

[spork@hat16 Downloads]->wc -l Saratoga-ponyexpress.gpx
628 Saratoga-ponyexpress.gpx
[spork@hat16 Downloads]->

It was a pain trying to figure out the path thing, basically I created a path and then clicked until I ran out of screen, hit OK moved and then right click/properties once I had screen again. I was expecting something different with the path tool but it works.

You can pan the screen with the screen pan circle thingy below the eye position north indicator thingy... also you can hold down right click and do a drag path as well. It takes some getting used to it :)

digging this back up from the grave.

I just realized that google earth has a web view. Go to maps.google.com and click on "earth" to the left of "satellite". You can create your routes right from the web and save it to your places using you google account. Love it.

let's see if this works:

[map]http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&oe=UTF8&msa=0&msid=208091365770614480506.0004bf9ffdce90116a811&t=f&ll=38.897822,-110.765606&spn=0.187037,0.291824&z=11&ecpose=38.75681294,-110.76562241,17717.82,0.005,44.93,0[/map]

...nope, not yet.
