I'm confused why you can't just flip the shifter around and have them point forward as someone said earlier in the thread. I know you said the are still in the same location I'm just having a hard time visualizing it being in the same location.

it's hard to describe without seeing it in person. It has to do with the part that protrudes below the plate. The angle they're at makes it so that the tops of the knobs end up in the same place, regardless of whether the levers swoop forward or back. I actually tried installing it backwards, and it was the same. Chans can confirm, he saw it too.

I tried to get a pic of mine for you, But I couldnt get the camera in there.
My legs are short so I have to ride with my seat all the way forward.
adding the forward extension to mine made all the difference.

BTW the truck looks sweet!

I have to ride with the seat pretty close to all the way forward. I'll just be adding the extension, I really like my bench seat.

If you havent already ordered them, and want to get your tires in as far as possible just get 1.25 spacers. Same price as the bigger ones. I personally like them in as far as they can be without rubbing.

No updates, other than I got my front driveshaft back.

I've reached the point where this truck feels like work. I'm not looking forward to working on it anymore, so I just put it off. but I've gotta get my butt in gear so I can get it to moab in 2 weeks. My wife and I have been babysitting 5 kids for the past 2 weeks, so I haven't had time to work on the truck. But the babysitting is over, so I expect to hit it hard on saturday.

Is anyone available to lend a hand tomorrow? Here's the list of what I need to do soon, hopefully I can get around to all of it tomorrow.

- fill t-cases
- extend speedo and 4wd indicator wires
- dog-leg twin sticks
- install twin stick boot
- install front bump stops
- add another leaf to the front springs
- adjust steering stops
- install rear shocks

And, if there's time:
- figure out what I'm going to do for sliders
- remove the bed
- brace the rear frame
- build the rear bumper

yea, i will defenetly swing by after work.
edit, you wouldnt happen to have some wheel spacers kicken around would ya?

I'm looking for wheel spacers myself. James' spacers are sitting at my house (1.5" and 2"). If you wanted to test fit them to see what they looked like you're welcome to, but James needs them back at the end of the night.

I finally had some time to work on the toyota today. I didn't get as much done as I would have liked, but that's pretty much the story of any build.

I worked on extending the speedometer wiring:

I also lengthened the 4wd indicator switch/light and tidied up the wires under the tunnel.

Then I went to work on the tcase shifter.

Here you can see it with one lever in the furthest forward position, and one lever in the rear most position.

WIth the seat in driving position and the left lever all the way up.

The levers hit the bottom of the seat frame in the up position. I can still shift them, but I don't want to run it like that. So I'm on the lookout for some stock grey seats from an 86-95 pickup or 4unner. I'll just weld my twin stick arms back on and run it like a stock twin stick. I can get by with how it is right now, but I'd like to make it clean.
