Just wondering what the stock gear ratio would be in my brothers 89 4 cyl 5spd Toyota truck. He is planning on a SAS down the road and would be nice to start making plans;)

Thanks, Brad J

3.90's, 4.10's, 4.37's. 4.43's (in 85 Auto's) were offered in the 79-85 front axle depending on year ;) . I don't know if you already have the front axle, but you might want to take note of that. Also being an 89 4 popper you have a 99.999999999999999999999999999% chance of having 4.10's in the rear :greg:

If you have the axle code of your vehicle, it is easy to find out what size differential, what ratio, and what pinion set-up you have. This will also help if you are hunting for a particular unit off another vehicle. The axle code is in the vehicle ID plate under the hood or drivers door. The axle code is 4 digits: a letter followed by 3 numbers.

Example: F372 = 7.5" 3.58 final ratio 2 pinion
Code:
1ST DIGIT R&P SIZE 2nd/3rd Digit R&P RATIO 4th DIGIT PINION SET-UP
