stolen~~ '71 Cruiser~~

My Aunt had her Land Cruiser stolen over the weekend. It is a red '71. I will try to get a good description as soon as possible. It was stolen from Horsley Company on Pennsylvania Ave. in Ogden. It has alot of sentimental value, it was my Uncle's and he was recently killed in a plane crash. she is offering a VERY generous reward for the return or info

I can't explain how mad this makes me.

If it's recovered make sure you don't touch it untill it's been fingerprinted and a full report's been taken.
Cops are useless unless you force them to do their job. I got a call at like five in the morning from dispatch saying thay found my jeep and I'd beter come pick it up right away or they were going to tow it since it was blocking a drive. So I went there and found it completely stripped, they even took my airfilter. My jeep has a 2.8 and that filter's probably useless to anybody but me alone. Anyway, they were supposed to take prints before they even called me but they didn't and they refused to investigate because they said I'd already gone through the vehicle.
So make sure they do their job and don't touch it till they print it and everything.
I'll watch for it, in fact, I'm going to go look for it and if I do find it I'm going to beat the ------- out of whoever stole it.
This makes me mad, who goes around and steals these old vehicles that aren't worth anything?
My jeep is totally trashed, they took everything, even some jeep parts I had in the back, and what they didn't take they broke.

Crimson~I know what you mean I've had 2 trucks stolen in my life and neither one had good results from the police. I had my Blazer stolen back when I was in high school, the police couldn't find it,my ex father in law found it less than a mile from where it was taken, but they wouldn't let me take it. they had it towed to the station to fingerprint then made me pay the tow bill. About 2 years ago my Tracker got stolen and was involved in a chase (I would say hi speed, but it was a Tracker~not possible) they got away.I got it back with a few new dents in it. when I went to pick it up CSI was there, but they said they couldn't find any prints.(there was no dusting powder on it) when I got in I found a dumbell laying on the floor that they didn't see~~I don't get it, it didn't seem like they wanted to catch them
BBowski~yup an fj40
Everyone else~Thanks for watching out for it

I will keep my eyes open while at work and I will let my fellow officers know of the cruiser. I have had good luck catching some rockcrawler thieves in the past because I'M A COP!!!

And by the way, thanks for the "Cops are useless" comment, you have catagorized us all now! And we appreciate that. Try to remember that when you are getting shot up from some gang banger POS... Of course I am going to defend my job and my position because I am damn good at it. It bothers me when folks make comments like that...

There are over 30 stolen vehicles recovered daily throughout SL County, is it really prudent to try to examine each and everyone of them when people need our help out there NOW on VIOLENT CRIMES? Dont get me wrong man, I HATE to be victimized when someone ganks my stuff too, but it is a property crime and I would much rather have a fast response from a PD when my ass is getting kicked rather than when my BBQ got stolen! If we had hundreds of cops out there than maybe this would work for each scene, but unfortunately we dont.

Yes, there are good cops and their are bad cops. I personally know 98% are good ones. And yes, there are bad hamburger flippers and there are good ones...

Good luck on the cruiser, I will watch for it.

the law of diminishing returns is applicable to law enforcement in that it is impossible to employ enough law enforcement to prevent all crime, it is just not economically feasible so protect yoursleves....take the damn keys out of the car and lock your doors. I just got some stuff ganked the other week, mental slip but it is up to you to protect yourself, it is up to cops to fill in the gaps.

I didn't mean to offend anyone by my post, I was just stating facts about my experiences, I just think a liitle more effort could have been made.you are absolutely correct about good cops and bad cops, but I think the percentage is a little higher of bad cops~ maybe 80/20 (also from personal experience)

Well if you wanted them to check for fingerprints, you shouldn't have went rummaging through it, until you knew it had been looked over.

And I'll watch too.

WildYoats, don't take that personal, I'm not saying that cops are bad, I'm just saying that they've never been able to help me. Had they done their job right we'd probably know who did this to me and I'd have my equipment back. Rather all they did was call me at 5 in the morning and tell me I had to pick up my jeep or they were going to tow it. All I can think is "jeese, thanks for the sympaty"
Utahxjer, I don't rumage through my own jeep, I was putting it back together since it had been dismantled, I think that's something you would have done too. The officer at the scene told me they wouldn't take prints otherwise I wouldn't have touched it. It wasn't till I called them later that they said they were supposed to take prints before they even called me.
So you see, all I'm saying is if the procedure would have been followed they would probably have the prints of whoever stole my jeep. That would be comforting to me at least.

BB88, does it have a chrome tailgate?
