I like that taco joint. And also like the Tamarisk. Not too familiar with anywhere else besides Ray's. The breakfast at West Winds used to be great, but I haven't been there in quite a while and I'm not even sure they are still operational.

Travelling by myself, my first choice is always Ray's. With the family, Tamarisk is a tradition.

After Mike's compelling argument for Green River

So give us some local color; what's the best place to go for food down in Green River?
I take it all back! Green River sucks! Don’t spend anymore time here! 😂

Tamarisk is great! Wide variety of food and I’ve never had a bad meal there. I just wished they served breakfast all day.
The Taco Truck is awesome too. Great people and tasty food.
The Chow Hound is also good if you want a quick burger, pizza, shake or float.
Perhaps I was a bit harsh on Ray’s as the atmosphere there is fantastic!
My personal favorite is La Veracruzana just around the corner from Ray’s on Main Street. It looks like a total dive but there Chile Verde and Pollo Ranchero is mouth watering. It may not be for everyone but my wife and I love it.

The thing that all these places have in common is the people. It probably helps that we live here but the service at each of these places, in my experience, is hard to beat. Like I said to @Gravy and the rest of the group at Copper Globe, its the people that make Green River such a cool place to live. Like they say at Ray’s, “The place for everyone.” Or no one… stay away. 😉
I keep telling my wife that our next move will be to either Bicknell or Green River. So far she keeps rolling her eyes, but I'm pretty set on it.
It’s funny you mention Bicknell and Green River. Obviously we live in Greentown now but we were also in Bicknell for a while. I love them both for the same and also different reasons. Wayne County is such an awesome place and just felt like home to us. Of course it helped that my wife is related to half the county. If we could have made our respective jobs work out better we’d still be there. When retirement finally comes I feel confident saying we’ll go back to stay.

We'll definitely give it a try. Mexican is Cindy's favorite and high on my list too. Chile Verde is both our personal favorite. Next time we roll through without my Mexican food disliking daughter, that's where we're going. If the daughter is along, it'll be Tamarisk  .

To be fair about the salad bar incident. That was long ago. My whole families meal was comped. I worked in a couple of restaurants as a kid. You see so many faces, people that come in once every few months, no chance you'll remember them. But we came back two or three months later and our waitress did remember us. And actually, the salad bar incident, and how well we were treated, turned out to be a big reason we have kept going back for many years now.

I have always wanted to try it but, we're always just passing through and I'd have a hard time talking my wife, and myself, out of Ray's. One day we'll spend some time there and eat at both. The taco truck always looks good too. I guess I'll have to spend a few days there...

The West Winds is getting pretty skeetchy these days.
I’m not even sure if it’s open anymore. It got to the point we’d only eat there when a friend of ours was waitressing. We’d call her and ask who the cook was that day and she’d either vouch for them or not. They changed owners recently and I don’t know what the situation is anymore. Regardless, our friend no longer works there so we just avoid it.

So for those of you that tried my brisket, how did it compare to cooking brisket on a pellet grill?
It's a huge difference in effort, but I think what you tried was some of the best brisket I've ever made and far better than I've ever done on a pellet grill.

I’m no expert by any means. But if nobody was around I would have licked the pan.

It‘s cool imo, that said as evidenced by my portfolio, I’m easy to please :D

Access is via high-clearance and/or a ford of the San Rafael River. Trailer access would be rough. It checked many of our boxes but we ended up perusing a different option You can access via Lower San Raphael Road via a ford or not, or via SR24 but thats the longer road...

Brilliantly dumb minds think alike. My pal Matt and I own some land together and we are always looking for other low buck offerings with little hope. It's become comical, almost an expensive game of dare or rock paper scissors (not as bad as Cody's version lol). He sends me this today.

"low ball offer 😄"

That is the same San Rafael River parcel(s) I described above. I know @Kevin B., @jeeper & I chatted about it. Did either of y'all go look at it?

Was access to this closed off in the TMP a couple years ago that covered everything east of 24?

Nope. The access road (same as shown in MLS) is still on the BLM database. Looks like many others in the area were killed.

Oddly but not surprisingly, the BLM land ownership map does NOT match the county tax records.

Go figure, even their ARCGIs database doesn’t reflect the actual access which goes right to the corner of the private land.

This is from the 2020 TMP reconsideration map (2022 decision)
