tacoma lift options

The CEL could be anything but the MAF and O2 codes are frequent naggers.

The T-belt and water pump maintenance are very important, like most Yota engines, the 3.4 if kept cool, and provided with clean oil should hit the 300k mark easy. The tranny is also extremly durable if filled with fresh Mercon.

I've got a K&N FIPK for you when you are ready.

Check the condition of the CV's and does 4x4 engage and disengage freely?

E-locker? Miles?

The lift is most likely a spacer lift, probably either Daystar, Revtek or Toytec...not bad 'cuz you can use the components later on in your build.

Hmmmm, some 2002 sport wheels would sure look nice on there.....

yeah he said he had bought it from his cousin who had the 90k service done. it has the e locker 114k on the odometer. it is a spacer lift wich has spacer in the strut assy, and on the top of the assy

the 4 wheel drive engages and disengages really well. the engine oil was clean and the trans fluid looked good to.

i want those wheels but i dint know if i want to step up to the 16" wheels tires seam more expensive that way. how much for the k and n?

the only bad thing is the rig is in nibley so its hard to get back there to check anything else.

i looked at the front end to see if it had diff drop but i couldn't tell every thing else looked good.

so if anyone on here knows anyone looking for a 99 tacoma let me know.

You should have no problems with the stock rear end, you will either have 4.10's or 4.30's.

The weak link is the Cv's and 7.5" ring gear. I've broken everything up front but the addition of a diff drop will help considerably.

so what extra parts do you have to carry along? and how hard core were you wheeling when things statred to break?

I always bring along a cv shaft, not much you can do about a shattered R&P on the trail.

I wasn't flogging it, just had the perfect combination of traction, load, and torque with excessive suspension droop...that will always kill a Yota CV...it was the R&P grenanding that suprised me.

My suspension setup has undergone many variations and I'm not totally satisfied, I have one last in mind but for now it works great. Here it is:

Front:

-OME N91s shocks
-Toyota Tundra 4x4 V8 springs
-Custom 3/8" polyurethane spacer (Cut down using a band saw from a previous Daystar installation)
-Extended top studs
-Extended quick anti-swaybar disconnects with polyurethane bushings
-Limiting straps--currently disconnected

Rear:

-OME N86 Shocks
-OME 891 Coils
-Custom 1" polyurethane spacer (Also cut down from a 2.5" Daystar setup...nothing too custom about it)
-Extended stock anti-swaybar links
-Dropped panhard bar to re-center axle after lift, many folks forget about this and then wonder why their axle is shifted over 3/4"
-Extended rear brake line

1" body lift, there is a ton of controversy over these but it sure makes it easy to do oil changes as the filter is now accessible through the front wheel well and it allows the sliders to be welded flush with the framrails with minimal trimming to the pinchweld. Other than a minor adjustment to the Automatic shift linkage and the installation of an included steering shaft extension, no other modifications were necessary. Even the fan shoud remains in place.

what size tire are u running?
you have never realy specified.

so what is needed to drop the panhard bar on the rear suspension?

A few options are:

-Lengthen your existing panhard bar to compensate for the lift--easiest done with all-thread and a rod end to get it perfectly dialed.

-Buy an already modded bar from Sonoran Steel.

-Drop the bracket, this is what I did. I like it because it can be converted back to stock since the upper mounting point is retained and it beefs up the stock mount considerably. It took a 3/8" piece of channel, some angle iron, a metric Toyota bolt and a few hours with a welder to get it done. I had the steel so it was mostly a free mod.

The upper bolt does not have to be there but it's what we used to keep everything square.
That piece of channel was not originally channel, it was a piece of hitch stock that my father in law cut down on the bandsaw.
The angle iron is only there for insurance, I doubt it see's much load.

Updates? Did you end up with a lift? If so, how is it working out? Does your new 4runner have the e-locker? Auto vs manual?
