Tail light wiring help needed..

First off, I am not a wiring noobie. I can wire a trailer in the dark, blindfolded, with just my teeth.

I am trying to wire the flat bed (CM brand)onto my truck ('06 F350), but have hit an issue. I have cut the wiring off the old bed, and am splicing into the plug. Coming out of the plug, I have 6 wires. Ground, Back up, tail, right turn/stop, Stop, and Left turn.. The left turn and left stop are not the same wire! :confused::confused: I have never heard of such a thing.

The problem is that the bed requires them to be 1 wire. I can't get an answer from the bed manufacturer. Any thoughts here?

Additionally, my right turn is doing the fast blink, as if it's missing a connection somewhere.. but that's not as important.

Just to be clear...the truck has separate tail/brake and turn signals, but the flatbed wants combo stop/tail/turn? You can get a converter box intended for trailer lights, that combine the signals into the single wire you need.

Kind of, but not really.

The left has a separate stop and turn, the right has a combo stop and turn wire. I would need the converter to run just the left side..

The flat bed is set up just like a trailer with tail/stop/turn lights. The truck has an additional plug for the trailer wiring.. I guess I could tie in there.

Right turn is doing a fast blink because it isn't seeing enough load. You need an electronic flasher. Replace the flasher relay. Pull the stereo and reach down and to the driverside, it's inside a plastic box. If you start the thing blinking it's easier to find it.

That's wacky that the right has a combo stop and turn and not the left.

That's why it's not seeing enough load. An incandescent bulb draws more power than an LED.
An LED or Electronic flasher doesn't use load to run, it's timer based. That's why it changed to flash blink when you added the flatbed. (If you blow a bulb it will do the same thing with a standard flasher relay).

Does this mean if I change the lights on my trailer to LED I'm going to have a similar problem? I just ordered a set last night. Damnit.

No. Only if you change the lights on your truck to LED. Right now, with no trailer your truck sees x load. With the trailer, it sees x+y load. Switch your trailer lights to LED, and you'll still have x+(y-).

I ended up running my lights right into the trailer wiring. Quick and easy. I still have the fast blinker, but I'm one of those guys that doesn't use a blinker anyway..
